Well Don, I've been pretty much following this thread thru work and posted a couple brief replies in the little time I've been able to do so while at home (Can't participate in on-line forums while at work). I must commend you in maintaining your civility while attempting to survive in the lions den.

While the thread began as a property rights issue, it occasionally strayed to personal choice arguments. To your credit, you have made every attempt to articulate your arguments but have been countered at every turn. It is more than obvious that there is nothing that can be said by anyone here or anywhere else for that matter that can convince you that the stance you are taking in defense of your bias towards tobacco will ultimately come back to haunt you.

Not today, maybe not tomorrow or next month but ultimately something you enjoy doing, eating, drinking or whatever is going to come under assault by the same zealots who are after us. Not necessarily the same people but people with the same mindset as yours.

How can this happen? Simple, for every assault on someone else's method of pleasure, there are 2 or 4 or 8 or who knows how many others who are willing to turn a blind eye because they don't care, they don't partake in that activity.

Too many children drowning in pools, time to enact a community ban against homeowners having them. I don't care Don, I don't have kids and I don't have a pool. How about you, do you have a pool?

Or how about a community wide ban on gas powered lawn mowers? After all, electric mowers are a viable alternative. Don't look to me for support Don because I live in a condo community which hires a landscaping company to cut our grass.

How about a community ban against parents limiting the number of children they can take into a restaurant? Say 2 for example only because the community feels that 3 or 4 would be too disruptive to the rest of the clientele. Don't look to me for support Don because I have no kids and I don't like them if they are misbehaved.

The possibilities are endless and sooner or later you are going to be affected whether you like it or not. Unfortunately your government knows that and is doing everything in it's power to alienate the "Constitutionally challenged" from the rest of us.

In most of your arguments you ultimately stated "well they are doing it so that makes it right". It isn't right Don and you know darn well it isn't. If you truly felt that way then you have no argument against the Zimbabwe government and their land grabbing from the whites. After all, since the government can do it then it is ok.........

I could probably find fault with a number of things you enjoy and given the PR team to support me and enough cash to grease the pockets of the politicians in your community, I could probably have those things you enjoy banned. Give some serious thought to that Don because that is exactly what has happened to us smokers. Because you happen to side with the statists now, there is no guarantee those same statists are going to stand by you in your hour of need.....

I see the entire issue as a civility issue. Smokers should be aware of the rights of non-smokers if they expect the non-smokers to respect their rights. And, that is what is missing.
