President Bush had a previously undisclosed meeting last week with General Tommy Franks, commander of United States forces in Afghanistan, to dicuss what was described on Sunday as 'concrete' military plans to attack Iraq.
'One of the meetings that wasn't reported this week was a briefing by General Franks in the Oval Office of the President on Wednesday revealed 'Fox News Sunday' panelist Bill Kristol, citing an unnamed administration source.
Kristol said that the Bush-Franks meeting indicates that the administration had decided to take action against Iraq regardless of the status of Middle East peace talks adding, 'Bush may be moving faster than we think in preparing to get rid of Saddam.'

World Net/ DEBKA is reporting the hospital story they usually get that from the Reuters Wire, and Kristol is his usual self.

Okay, anyone want to take bets as to how Rush is going to spin this on Monday?
That is, if he's back on Monday?

And 1,700 Britsh Royal Marines have just transferred to Kuwait from Afghanistan according to that hospital report.

" ... the hospital story ..."
If the new offensive is anything like Desert Storm, the field hospitals will be treating far more enemy casualties than our own.

Too bad Fox News does not understand Loose Lips Sink Ships.
But it's all about ratings, not national security, as usual for the media.

Re Rush -- why has he been gone all week?

I only posted the story after 3 sources had it FOX, Newsmax and World Net/ DEBKAfile.
It looks like Bush is still playing his cards close to the vest even though this is common knowledge now.

I'm not faulting you.
It's the so called "fair and balanced" Fox News that broadcast this.
Rupert Murdoch is only after ratings.

I heard on FOX News this morning that Saddam was planning on possibly stepping down and turning over all power to his son. They claimed that he would do this to delay an attack from the US. Do you think that would stop us?

The fact that Saddam, all of a very sudden, is pulling troop movement rumors off the Reuters Wire is intended.
The tighter the noose gets, the more unpredictable he becomes, the more executions he will order.
The day is coming when some ambitious officer, perhaps even a member of Saddams Special Republican Guard, will put a well-deserved bullet in Saddam's brain.
An officer's coup is in the offing, much like the July 20th plot against the Adolf. This is one way of telling the Iraqi General Staff to get on the stick and "liquidate" the whole Hussein clan.
However, there's a problem. All that would replace Hussein is another ambitious, corrupt military officer.
We must insist on a constitutionally based republican transformation. Otherwise, a few years will pass and we will be dealing with another mountebank.

Let's hope we use Daisy-Cutters, fuel-air bombs, and every other piece of blast-em-back-to-the-stone-age weaponry in our arsenal ... and then send in our 6-man team to present the terms of surrender.

I saw that report as well, Saddams son is worse and more nutso..isn't he the one that had the Iraq soccer teams feet whipped after they lost a World Cup qualifier match?
In short, I think that will make the CIA move faster because the son may not be as careful as the old man in power when it comes to security.

At least Newsmax waited 5 hours beore going with it..

Believe it or not, his son is supposed to be even more of a maniac then Saddam.
