President Bush had a previously undisclosed meeting last week with General Tommy Franks, commander of United States forces in Afghanistan, to dicuss what was described on Sunday as 'concrete' military plans to attack Iraq.
'One of the meetings that wasn't reported this week was a briefing by General Franks in the Oval Office of the President on Wednesday revealed 'Fox News Sunday' panelist Bill Kristol, citing an unnamed administration source.
Kristol said that the Bush-Franks meeting indicates that the administration had decided to take action against Iraq regardless of the status of Middle East peace talks adding, 'Bush may be moving faster than we think in preparing to get rid of Saddam.'

Nothing that comes from anyone on CNN is credible and goes for Blitzed too!

Good response, as always. Thanks.

It's coming, and faster than previously thought. Reserves are being called up for active duty (Kuwait).
Oh and the LMT and RTN charts signal war is right around the corner.

That’s it for me, the Fox Station has had it's last showing on my big screen; for it's been getting to be more and more like it's Sister Station Clitiooooon National Network (CNN) every day other than it was at the beginning when it was a station of respectable, security minded personal that had high morals instead of a bunch of Nut Cases that they presently have.

The element of surprise is a great ally in a war.
My contention all along has been that we will stun Iraq with a lightning attack against the oil fields in the south and the north.
Once secured, these areas will be defended easily by overwhelming air supremacy......come to us Saddam.
The Iraqi elites will see their wealth and power near collapse and oust Saddam.
The continued misinformation about a potential 2003 attack makes me believe that a September operation is in the cards.
Iraq will be the second domino to fall after Afghanistan and it will set off a chain reaction throughout the remainder of the arab middle east.
The irresistable force in this undertaking will remain President Bush's stark sense of right and wrong, good and evil.

This is such a secret that Debka knows about it...wow. Big "Secret"!!

Your scenario is exactly how I think it will be handled. The income from the oil will fund the "Free Iraq" zones, allowing them to set up a new government AND allow those citizens to enjoy a VASTLY improved standard of living. It won't take long for Iraqi Army units to begin defecting to the South and North 'Free Zones'. Saddam's life expectancy will be measured in a few short weeks.

This story was supposed to be leaked! It's a f*%$ing plant! Well I hope so - but there are so many leaks - not all of them are plants.
I do think Bush is playing with Saddam and I agree that the leak of info on the signing of the ok for the CIA to go after him is Bush at his best. What does Saddam do? He starts looking over his shoulder and eventually like you say, shooting his generals.
Might as well get him a little nervous. Why are we only supposed to lose our feeling of security?

It would be pretty difficult to keep something like this "secret". Besides, after the various things we did to trick the Iraqis during Desert Storm, it doesn't mean a thing.

But are the plans on Bush's desk? He's a clean desk man. More likely the next leak will be that the plans have been shelved, and that leak will be literally true even though the attack will be about to begin.

Secret? It's the new media buzzword. They should say "recently declassified," or "just approved today for general release."

That's funny. I heard the exact same thing before we left for the Gulf. Fact about it, this soldier was bored (SCUD alerts in MOPP4 notwithstanding).
