SHOW LOW - Two huge wildfires raging through northeastern Arizona have exploded to a total of nearly 300,000 acres, fire officials said Sunday morning, with the larger blaze expected to hit Show Low by Sunday afternoon or Monday morning.
Noting the shifting winds and the intensity of the inferno, operations section chief Buck Wickham cautioned, "That's a projection, and this fire has done nothing that we've projected yet."

Thanks for the information and links. The enviro-nazis and the lawyers have to be stopped. Saw fear in their eyes tonight on TV. They are going to mount a fierce attack/defense in order not to be blamed for this. If we can't stop them after this, I dunno...

According to "Friends of the Earth"...
A Washington Post columnist used our report in chastising a Bush administration
official who admitted the administration's biggest challenge is going to be how best to
utilize taxpayer dollars to the benefit of industry.

I thought the same thing, and I bet that Bush stayed away for the right reasons. Upon careful consideration, his appearance may help morale, if nothing else.

The fire is only a half mile away from Show Low.

Oh Lord. Please tell me McPain won't be with him.

Last night on O'Reilly, I loved hearing an envirowacko trying to justify why thining out of forests is a bad thing. I don't think even he believe the crap he was spewing.

Wow. Prayers (for rain) for the folks in Show Low...

What an incredible photo!

I pray for rain, which isn't going to happen, but I think our prayers are starting to be heard about these enviro-nazis. The "protected" underbrush is not even indiginous to AZ. Ranchers planted it. Thanks for telling me about O'Reilly. I don't get that show on my tele.

Wow you certainly know your stuff. I knew babbitt was an idiot, but now you have engraved it in stone. That explains all the last minute monuments. What is strange, however, is how he was so slow to respond to any wildfires--the worst record of any admin.

No sign of him so far. Just saw some raw footage on local TV of the President with the firefighters - you'll have some good pics for The Dose tonight! He picked up a huge chain saw at one point while he was with the firefighters.

Hope you got to see the President's remarks to the evacuees. Very heart-warming. Spoke compassionately to the people who have lost so much - even one home lost was too many he said. He got a HUGE round of applause when he spoke about the need for "wise" forest service policies.

Very sweet lady just interviewed on Channel 12. She's a Show Low resident who has been working on the ham radio to help spread information to people who are so desperate to know what's going on. She had been told twice that her home was on fire, but she was assured today by the mayor of Show Low that there were no homes damaged there.
She got to meet the President who thanked her for her efforts and gave her a "huge bear hug." She was obviously very touched by his show of support and broke out in tears just talking about it. She had so many kind words to say about how genuine the President was.
President is arriving back at Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix to board Air Force One and head on to Canada for the G8 Summit.

Just got done reading this thread. Prayers for all the people affected by the fire.

local news in Colorado said that the Show Low fire was started by a firefighter. So his team could make some money.
Say is isn't so..
