They were here illegally because it is so easy to do so.
Had we made it more difficult, all of them could have jumped through the hoops. They were illegal on technicalities.

Tightened immigration would not have stopped them, it would merely have cost them a few extra bucks in filing fees.

The problem we have, is that the organizations tasked with stopping them had, not that long ago, just finished knitting their diversity quilts for Bill and Hill.
