First it is not a Democratic party. It is the Democrat party. Second this country is a Republic not a Democracy. In a democracy the majority rule. Majority rule is mob rule. Mob rule is CHAOS. "The cornerstone of the Republican philosophy is the belief that each person is responsible for their own place in our society. Individuals are encouraged by the Republican Party to work to secure the benefits of society for themselves, their families and for those who are unable to care for themselves. Democrats are more willing to subordinate individual rights to the assumed needs of the group. They assume that society collectively is responsible for each of its members. They place less emphasis on individual enterprise and initiative."
"Republicans believe that government should be limnited to doing for people those things which they cannot do for themselvwes. The right to determine individual destiny should lie in the hands of the individual. Similarly, Republicans believe governmental power and resources should be kept close to the people through their state and community leaders, rather than cetralized in distant big government." I am not that smart. This is from material put out by the California Republican Party, titled "Is there a difference?"
You can get the whole thing from The California Republican Party, 1903 West Magnolia Blvd., Burbank, CA 91506 or at www.cagop.org. You can also pick it up at any Republican registration table in So. California, at the mall where the Republican Women are registering Republicans for the 2002 election. If you don't know why you should be a Republican after you read it I only have one comment. Ignorance can be cured, stupidity is forever.

Such as?

I am not being sarcastic. I would like to see those things enumerated.

First it is not a Democratic party. It is the Democrat party.

Actually, it's the Democratic Socialist Party, thanks to O'Reilly. Let's make sure the name sticks.

If you don't know why you should be a Republican after you read it I only have one comment. Ignorance can be cured, stupidity is forever.

The sentiments in that party platform are beautifully stated, but the party leadership has yet to put it into practice, or even attempt to do so. If you can't see that they are being typical hypocritical politicians, and merely promising what we wish to hear without any intent to follow-up on the ideals, then I have a similar comment to return to you.

The cornerstone of the Republican philosophy is the belief that each person is responsible for their own place in our society. (farm subsidies, housing downpayments for minorities, aid to almost every nation on earth, etc.) Individuals are encouraged by the Republican Party to work to secure the benefits of society for themselves, their families and for those who are unable to care for themselves. (yet they are hindered from doing so by income taxes, estate taxes, capital gains taxes, etc.) Democrats are more willing to subordinate individual rights to the assumed needs of the group. They assume that society collectively is responsible for each of its members. They place less emphasis on individual enterprise and initiative." "Republicans believe that government should be limnited to doing for people those things which they cannot do for themselves. (Leaving the door open for all sorts of extra-Constitutional vote-buying Socialistic give-aways) The right to determine individual destiny should lie in the hands of the individual.) (Yet they support gun-control laws, seatbelt laws, drug laws, and a million regulations "for our own safety", even when we are the only ones affected) Similarly, Republicans believe governmental power and resources should be kept close to the people through their state and community leaders, rather than cetralized in distant big government." (Yet we see ZERO encouragement for this at the GOP's national level in the decade-plus since Reagan)

In short, there is no difference in the PRODUCT of the two parties, no matter what their stated philosophies may be.

Broom; Could you please explain this to me. I was always under the impression that a Democracy is a majority rule by a free election<.p>

Two years ago we had a free election by which GWB won with a few more votes.

Does this constitute mob rule and chaos?.

Regards

Actions speak louder than words. All I see is more LIBERAL Democratic action from this Prez, than the vision he preeched on while running. "Actions" are the true colors of one's beliefs.

Yes, I've read it. It says what I believe.
It could be taken from the Libertarian website, as well;
libertarians believe the same thing.

The difference is that where the libertarians live those words,
the Republicans just give lip service to their creed.

Second this country is a Republic not a Democracy.
It's a real shame most Republican leaders, and even the President, continue to refer to our form of government as a democracy. Do you want some links for me to prove I'm right?
How am I to trust any of the candidates from any party when such basic principles aren't even understood by them. I understand the Democrats want a democracy, but what ever became of republicanism and Constitutionalism?
Republic passes not from any of their lips, for if it does they admit they've all been lying.
Maybe you need to pass out something extra at that Republican registration table.
