I'm not saying you are a liberal, but the word "hateful," used in a general sense, is tired, meaningless, and the favorite in slogans (along with "mean-spirited") used by liberals to attempt to denounce those who oppose them. I would exhort Freepers not to borrow this meaningless slogan from the collectivists.

If not meanspirited, I don't know what to call it. A big part of Ronald Reagan's success was that he put a smile on the face of conservatism, and he was genuinely optimistic. What I see from a lot of "conservatives" is....sore, or maybe crumudgeonly (for want of a better term).

Typo. Make that "sour," not "sore" -- although "sore" might apply too. Whatever it is, it isn't very appealing.
