Yes the alternative was bad, very bad...but that doesn't mean that conservatives can't be angry at things that Bush does. Anger does not equal me not voting for Bush in '04. And I think that many other "angry" conservatives feel the same way. I made up my mind in '00 when I cast my vote for Bush that I would vote for him in '04 as well.

Because your arguments are so predictably boring. Nobody's trying to shut anybody up, but you guys insist that the rest of us can NOT be good conservatives unless we buy your dogmatism.

There's a variation of those who whine. The whiners, the bashers, the I'm not voting for him again and the I knew he was an sob from the beginning and voted for ______.

I can put up with the whining, do it myself occasionally. It's the others who will tell me I'm not a conservative because I won't vote for a candidate who has no chance of winning and if by some miracle did, couldn't get squat done.

I don't believe that the Axis of Whining Weasels comments are directed at people like you (based on what you said in the referenced post). It's one thing to not approve of everything that he does, but you seem to understand that refusing to vote for him and even going so far as to vote for a democrat is not the answer.

No, the AWW consists of people who want to demonize GWB. An example: A couple of weeks ago there was a silly vanity thread listing reasons why GWB is liberal. I'm paraphrasing quite a bit here, but this is the gist of it. One of the things on the list was that GWB is liberal because he made a comment that no American should have to pay more than a third of their income in income tax.

Now, any reasonable person understands that to mean that the president is objecting to the idea of us paying high taxes. These people who glommed onto that as a way to criticize the president pretended that it meant that the president was saying that paying one-third of our income in income tax is fine and dandy.

Probably because we have a low tolerance for people that call themselves conservatives, pissing all over themselves and focusing on the warm feeling it gives them rather than the stink. The foul odor doesnt do anything to draw new voters to the conservative side.
