There were some incredible parallels to the 9/11 attacks within the pilot episode for the short-lived "X-Files" spinoff, "The Lone Gunmen." Although the article claims that no one noticed, I seem to remember some folks here on FR mentioning it not too long ago.FYI -- there is a video link to the climatic moments of the episode included in this article; obviously, it may not be prudent for any who are sensitive to watch the video (YMMV).

now I can't remember if I watched the pilot or not ... doesn't sound familiar ... I only saw one or two anyway ... what about the Arabic calendar with an airplane crashing into NYC? ... wonder when that was distributed ... it was posted here on FR ...

Hi ... the link for the video is 404'd -anywhere else I can see it? This is indeed spooky - too bad the show was so poorly viewed...

I've been woundering why no one has really mentioned this... That was one of the first random thoughts that were flying around my head on 9/11...

I missed that one but, I did notice that Bubba's and Janet Reno's portraits were prominantly featured in Skinner's office for eight years and W's and Ashcroft's were never seen. I know I've mentioned this before, but I think it is interesting.

I remember that episode, as I was one of the few "Lone Gunmen" fans. The airliner incident took place at night when there would have been hardly anyone in the towers.

Oh, after viewing the clip, I vaguely recall seeing that show. Thanks for the post.

I also vaguely recall seeing it. The problem is the show was so poorly written it got flushed from my short term memory immediately. Who remembers what they ate at a Mcdonalds on March 4, 2001? Same problem here. I love TLG, but their series was unwatchable... and forgettable.

I loved that spin-off series.
So sad they killed off the Lone Gunmen in the final episode.

The funny(?) thing is, those TV producers now have better track records prediction-wise than all the "psychics" out there.

Actually, the aircraft was remotely piloted by someone in the "government" to create a war, if I remember correctly. It was not terrorists from outside the U.S. They were from within and the tall skinny suit's (can't remember his name on the show) dad knew of the plot and the government tried to kill him, but he faked his own death and was able to warn his son and his son's buddies about the crash. It involved some sort of superchip, too.

"What's disturbing about it to me is, you think as a fiction writer that if you can imagine this scenario, then the people in power in the government who are there to imagine disaster scenarios can imagine it, too."Of course, not even the TV show imagined suicide hijackers.
And in real life we weren't going to get "remote controlled planes."
If we start expecting our government to anticipate and prepare for every act of terrorism imagined by fiction, we might as well have our soldier on alert for everything that ever happened in a James Bond movie or "X-men" comic book.

I think I was one of the lone few who liked the Lone Gunmen, even though it was silly at times. I remember this episode. One of the guys was on the plane with his father. The whole episode was about what his father did in the Government and the two men not getting along. I don't remember much eles about the episode, but I do remember them almost crashing into the tower. I thought of this episode when 9/11 happened, and I did tell a few people, but no one seemed to concerned about a tv program.

Don't forget Tom Clancy's book "Executive Orders". When it happened that morning that book came immediately to mind.

Nobody noticed? Well...yeah...that's because it was a
CONSPIRACY!!!(insert kook response here)
Yeah, that's the ticket.
I have a vague recollection of that episode now that it's been brought up.

Hey, what about the 'Trading Places' movie scene where Dan Ackroyd is walking in front of the World Trade Center and says, "Prepare for an unbridled carnage such as you have never before witnessed . . . . "
To: mhking
Oh, I noticed. It was a good episode and credible in some respects, but the tin hat crowd will jump on it, no doubt, claiming the gub'ment arranged the aircraft to fly into the WTC.
