Attorney slain in 100 North Main parking garage June 21, 2002
An attorney was shot to death just before 9 a.m. today as he was getting out of his car on the fourth floor of the parking garage of the 100 North Main Building.
Early reports said he was shot four times by a well dressed man sporting braids.
The shooter then fled on foot and got onto a Memphis Area Transit Authority bus.
Thanks. Haven't "Seen" any of them around lately.
But that's the way it's supposed to be. ;-)
I didn't know Ted Knight was still doing the news...!
Sleep tight America. The FBI is on the job, defending you against terrorism....
He does resemble Ted Knight. A little, anyway.

One can hope so. It would certainly be among Willie Nelson's Greatest Hits.

A man upset over a divorce was the gunman who killed defense lawyer Robert Friedman, Memphis homicide detectives said Saturday.
Police arrested and charged Harold Don Noel, 48, in Friedman's death.
Friedman was shot at least twice, in the head and in the chest, Friday morning while he stood at an elevator in the garage of his office building at 100 N. Main.
The gunman then ran through the building, down the escalator and onto the Main Street Mall. A surveillance camera showed him hopping into a parked car on Jefferson.
I don't know. I'm really not familiar with Tennessee politics.

NINA M. NOEL v. HAROLD DON NOEL
Court:TCA
Attorneys:
Darryl W. Humphrey, Memphis, Tennessee, for the appellant, Harold Don Noel.
Rita L. Stotts, Memphis, Tennessee, for the appellee, Nina M. Noel.
Judge: LILLARD
First Paragraph:
This is a divorce case. The trial court granted the husband the divorce but ordered him to pay, inter alia, $8000 in child support arrearage, half of the wages owed to the former employees of the wife's new business, and court costs. The husband appealed.
We reverse the trial court's holding that the husband should pay half of the wages of the wife's new business, since this is the wife's separate debt incurred after the parties separated, and affirm the remainder of the trial court's order.
Noel separated from Nina Noel in August 1995 and the divorce was final on May 20, 1996. If this is the divorce case that resulted in the murder, that's a long time to be upset with an attorney before acting, especialy since Friedman was not associated with Harold Noel's successful appeal case.
A man disgruntled about the handling of his divorce was charged Saturday with the murder of a Memphis attorney shot to death a day earlier in a downtown parking garage.
Memphis police charged Harold Don Noel, 48, of 2765 Ketchum No. 1, with first-degree murder in the death of defense attorney Robert Friedman on Friday morning.
Friedman, 52, was shot to death about 8:20 a.m. by a man who approached the lawyer as he arrived for work in the garage of the 100 N. Main building.
In a press conference police called Saturday afternoon, Deputy Chief Bob Wright said Noel apparently held a grudge against Friedman in connection with the lawyer's handling of Noel's divorce in 1998 or 1996.
Public records indicate that a Chancery Court granted Noel a divorce in June 1998 from Nina M. Noel.
The public court records clearly show the divorce was final on May 20, 1996. I don't understand the reason for the sloppy reporting identifying the date of the divorce as June 1998. I am including these remarks in case Mr. Noel never makes it to trial or pleads guilty. This is the same paper reporting "anti-abortionists" are responsible for strapping a bomb to the Shelby County medical examiner and that Katherine Smith may have committed suicide by pouring gasoline on herself and then setting herself on fire. Pardon my skepticism

pretty simple and to the point. never had broken it down quite like this before.
