One angle that I haven't heard mentioned much is the dismantling of the Civil Defense shelters. It never felt right when, out of the blue, everyone said "The Cold War is Over" and shut all the shelters down. Still think that was a big mistake.

I was under them impression that these were shut down or allowed to degrade a long time ago. I think that these were seen as ineffective once the nuclear warhead yeilds got into the megaton range. These certainly wouldn't have done any good on 9/11 if they were at or near the WTC.
