OWASCO - A retired state trooper and former restaurateur was hurt Wednesday night after his pickup truck hit two large rocks and overturned in a grassy field.
John Angyal, of the 3800 block of East Street in Skaneateles, was driving on Oakridge Road toward Melrose Road when he was apparently distracted by a bee buzzing inside his car. He told police he was swatting the bee when his car swerved off the road.
Eyewitness Josie Vozga saw Angyal's vehicle hit a large rock near a driveway.
"Then he went into the air, and hit that rock," Vozga said, pointing to a second stone on the opposite side of the driveway. "He came up just enough for me to see the bottom part of his truck. It sounded like he hit another car."
Angyal's truck then skidded across a lawn, into a grassy field, and flipped over.
By 11:15 p.m., the accident scene had been cleared. A few town employees remained at the site, combing it for the former trooper's badge, which he said flew out of the truck after it struck the stones.
Officers responding forced Angyal to keep talking, fearing he would lose consciousness. He sustained a gash on his neck, and multiple scratches, Vozga said.
He was in stable condition Wednesday night at Auburn Memorial Hospital, after spending much of the day in the emergency room.
Angyal once headed the state police water-rescue diving team. Last year he sold his restaurant, Angel's Heavenly Hamburgers in Skaneateles. He has also served as a supervisor and judge in that community.
He gained notoriety a few years ago when then-President Bill Clinton and his family vacationed Skaneateles.
Clinton' wife, Hillary, who was beginning her ultimately successful run for U.S. senator from New York, took some heat from Angyal's eatery. He listed two items on the sandwich board after Democrat and then-first lady Hillary Clinton -- the "Hillary Special, Mostly Baloney," a fried-bologna sandwich, and the other, the $4.95 "Hillary's Chicken Dinner: two small breasts, two left wings and two large thighs."

Take a look at an ugly bee. It makes honey! I'm not a bad looking person, but all I can do is make a little wax with my ears!

This fingerlakes area is my hometown. Skaneateles is beautiful, very pricey too.
Another of the heros of that town that told the Clinton's to go to hell was Doug's Fish Fry. Wonderful place and owner. He made it clear that if the Clinton's even set near his establishment, he would ask them to leave and would not serve them.
Incidently, when Hillary! and the gang spent their free vacation in Skaneateles, none other than Terry McAwful got them the mansion on the lake to stay at----rent free of course.
Oh, and everytime they went out to eat, they ordered the left and right sides of the menus, emptied half the wine cellars of great restaurants like The Old Stone Mill, and then left without so much as leaving a tip, let alone paying the bill.
What a crew.

This is a great and beautiful small town on one of the Finger Lakes for those that have never been there. I have been there three times and in fact favored staying there when visiting Syracuse. The shops, views, small hotel (Sherwood as I remember) are great as was the food. Drop in sometime and tell the locals why you came...for the courage of this guy two years ago.

Eyewitness Josie Vozga saw Angyal's vehicle hit a large rock near a driveway. If it was Arkancide, they would've used a Little Rock.

Hello, newbie. Welcome to FreeRepublic. A few ground rules while you are around:
- When you post self-portraits, be sure to keep them small so as not to overwhelm some browser windows.
- Be sure to check out the entire thread as sometimes moderators forget to pull posts that quote the pulled posts. Sometimes in there you will find the invective in the pulled post.
- MurryMom is a known hit and run disruptor, whose posts contained all the substance of a total vacuum. (Speaking of which, how are those migranes?)
- No one (who is not a moderator) can ban another poster. One can only be banned through one's own stupidity.
- Helping them to implode and reveal their stupidity, however, is not frowned upon at all.
- Humor is a subtle concept not quickly grasped by non-humans.
- Signatures are considered an obnoxious affectation as your screen name appears on the next bloody line!
Hope this helps and have a nice day.

Everyone who celebrates the silencing of a voice, the excommunication of a person who has the passion to actually put their beliefs into words, to stand up with a different opinion from the herd, everyone who CHEERS when a fellow-freeper gets kicked in the head, is an @ssh*l% who brings shame to this forum, embarrasses themselves, and is a PERFECT example of what distinguishs the cool people from the -- to use a phrase I used in a different thread -- the BOGUS people. You think this is bad, try to talk facts on a left wing liberal website. They whine themselves silly! They cry, freak, and explode into a tizzy. Best humor sites on the web!
