"People often justify the war on drugs by saying drug use is inherently immoral," he said. "That's not what Jesus said. Regardless of what Jesus said, why would the inherent immorality of drug use justify government proscription? That's the part that trips me up.

I went on there website and they have a link to join NORMAL. Wow the right and the left coming together to end this insane war on our own people! Besides giving money to NORMAL (who I don't know really have the credibility need to pull this off) what can we do?

"...what can we do?"
What we can do is the same thing we can do about racist comments, for instance; don't let unthinking sheeple repeat lies without contradiction. When someone says something foolish or wicked, contradict them. That's a start, and it makes a good impression on young people especially. They can't understand hypocrisy; neither can I.
Of course, one has to be prepared to be a little confrontational. ;^)
That bothers some folks more than others.

That woman needs to go to a Bible believing Church instead. The word for Sorcery comes from the same word for PHARMACY in the Greek, Pharmakia.
It is a clear connection between the meaning of the word and the behaviour associated with drugs, and how easy it is to call it sin.
Drug use is sin, it is wrong, to conscously ingest something for the purpose of getting high is wrong!

Should all pharmacists be jailed?

no, they should be stoned like the godless heathens they are. God is a god of love, after all -- what better way to show His love?
To: Wolfie
Another sensibly minded religious group questions the reactionary madness of making criminals out of people who have absolutely no interest in harming anyone.

Color me "indecisive." My Lava Lamp has burned-out, my bong is on the fritz and "wavy gravy," my dog, has eaten my tarot cards.
Still, I don't think it necesarily a positive sign when christians coalesce with potheads to increase marijuana consumption.
I do think we ought to wait to encourage cocaine consumption until the entrepreneurial forces in this hemisphere perfect "lite" cocaine;
"Sniffs great...."
"Less killing...."

And the word SINISTER means left-handed. You ready to lock up millions of people over semantics?

Hope no one here thinks I'm being confrontational (sarcm), when I ask the question:
Why should I NOT feel sorry for you, if you can't enjoy life sober?
Oh pardon me,,, the druggies right
to enjoy any pleasuring freedom, trump my right to not want to pay for your recovery, kids care, missed work, etc., etc. I think the libertarians have about got it right - drug if you can afford it and agree to stay in your room!

You're not very well-read if you think Libertarians are asking you to pay for anything, friend.

A little wine for thy stomachs sake. It's not what goeth into a mans mouth that defiles him, but what cometh out.
Doesn't the Bible warn you in there somewhere about judging other people?

Heck of an assertion there Race. I'm sure you can cite chapter and verse. Hmmm? Noooo, not even Leviticus. Gee. Those ribs you had at the BBQ are more anti-biblical than pot (and more likely to kill ya).

This thread is about marijuana, not crack or PCP. I've never known anyone who missed work, abandoned their kids, had major health or mental problems, or harmed anyone else as a rseult of smoking pot, have you?
