On the subject of coal, I have long suspected that most people who lived all their lives in Victorian cities tended to die around age 50 of tuberculosis or emphysema, what with all that coal soot they breathed in day in day out. Does anyone know if I am right ?
So for the upper classes, having a country estate to spend months at was a cardiovascular necessity.

Well summer has HAPPENED here on the TX gulf coast. All I can say is "come on global cooling".

Funny but I pray for cooler weather. I just saw on our local weather forecast that it is to be 115 degrees in Phoenix next week. We haven't had a good soaking of rain in a very long time!

summer has HAPPENED here on the TX gulf coast We get summer, too, most years. This year it was last Saturday between 2 PM and 8 PM. A lot of mosquitos, too many to go outdoors except for emergencies, but at least we could see summer through the window.

I would guess high rates of tuberculosis deaths in Victorian cities is likely due a complete lack of antibiotics.

Of course, the ultimate irony might be that the increased levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere are warding off the ice age. In this case, we should give tax relief to coal power stations and factories for every ton of carbon dioxide they release. Now that would get some power plants built!

Thanks for the ping this article is a keeper ;-)

I had no idea what kind of democrat you were talking about! But I see it must cover all of them! Bingo!! Anacephaly, a cogent word useful in describing demonrats.
Cogent in the sense of appealing to the intellect or powers of reasoning as in Republican.

This is an outright lie. You will find no reputable scientist who says so. Graphs are carefully edited so that parts showing cooling are removed Great article, from the UK no less. The Greens learned from the Rats who learned from the Nazis who learned from the Soviets.
The key to any good propaganda, is that if you repeat the big lie forever, eventually the ignorant and the lazy will believe it.

Great post re the liars and muddle headers who make up the current crop of enviral nazis. They hate people and will do anything to limit the population and move us out of their druid cathedrals ( we call them forests).

When did GW know about the ice age?
Why didn't he act before it came?
He lost the core vote of the Wooly Mammoth by not acting on his prior knowledge of the coming of the first ice age!
That does it. Alley Oop and I will not vote for when the next ice age or global something the other happens.

You know what your post reminded me of? An odd old comic book I was hooked on when I was a kid..."Turok, Son of Stone."
It was about an Americn Indian and his friend Andar who accidentally stumbled into a lost world of dinosaurs and volcanoes and things.
I think that comic book is why I majored in geology, truth be told. HA!
Do you happen to remember it? (Disclaimer...this really has nothing to do with the thread and if people want to gripe about being off-topic, I will just be quiet.)
To: Miss Marple
I vaguely remember it. Gee, I thought that I was the old one.
Speaking of the big chill, I can't wait to push the Big Chill button when John Rob enables the kill messages part of the program. Time to chill the Axis of Whining Weasels!
