Tribute To HEROES
Tribute to Vietnam Veterans....Please click on picture
The great intangible of America's wars beyond logistics, beyond strategy, beyond wonder weapons and Generals, is the spiritual force of its fighting men and women - and that is the force that the USO so serves.

Thank you from all those that frequent the FReeper Canteen to Jim Robinson, Founder of FRee Republic and Navy Veteran.

Statement by Senator Phil Gramm
"Years in the making, we honor today with the unveiling of this 33-cent stamp an honest-to-goodness American hero: Audie Murphy. He was a country boy from Hunt County who turned out to be the greatest hero of World War II.
"He is the most decorated veteran of all time, with 33 medals, including the Medal of Honor. He then went on to become a famous movie star and songwriter and a major spokesman for the rights of America's veterans.
"I am awfully proud that Audie Murphy was a Texan and that soon all Americans will be reminded of his heroism and his life story, his rise from poverty to war hero to movie star to his untimely death on Memorial Day 1971 at the age of 46.
"We honor Audie Murphy because of what he represents. I want every man and woman in America to know that there are real heroes in this world. That ordinary Americans, when put in extraordinary circumstances, can do extraordinary and heroic things, like Audie Murphy did."

You can use my address if you want and I will pass it out to the grunts on the line for you and damn sure let them know." Address:SGM R A Herman TF Rakkasan HHC 3Bde APO AE 09355
The receptionist at SAMWolfs office has a Marine friend of hers that could use some morale building.
He's at Camp LeJeune right now waiting for a training deployment to a ship.
He's 29 has 2 daughters under age 3 and is missing his family.
SAMWolf told her he would pass the Marines name and address onto the Canteen.
His current snail mail address is:
Cpl Berger, Charles W.
II MEF MARFOR UNITAS
RECON DET
Bldg 10, Wing 3
PSC 20164
Camp LeJeune, NC 28542-0164
His email is:
charlesberger@hotmail.com
Sounds like he could use some e-mails and maybe a care package.

Good morning, everybody!
HAPPY THURSDAY!
Thank you, Snow Bunny, for the information on Audie Murphy.
I remember watching his story, "To Hell & Back", several times. I had no idea that he was a poet & song writter. THANK YOU!

On this day in 1941 The Army Air Forces were created. Today the Shiela B out of Jonesboro laid yellow lobstah traps 100 yards away. Murphy was a boyhood hero of mine as were all WWII servicemen.

Murphy was a boyhood hero of mine as were all WWII servicemen. I can't count the number of times I've watched To Hell And Back. One of my favorites.

Good morning Snow Bunny. Here is a photo of
Major Audie L. Murphy's resting place.
With no disrespect intended, it is interesting to note
that in the end one cemetary plot looks pretty much
like all the rest. Of course the Arlington cemetary
plots are not your average resting place. These guys
lay in pretty hallowed ground. They were and are
some of our most treasured resources.

Was this a test to see who was awake yet -- or perhaps you are related to Nostrodamus?
