WESTERFIELD TRIAL: Week Three - Day Four
San Diego Courtroom Trial
| none
Posted on 06/19/2002 8:45:03 PM PDT by NatureGirl
Here's the new thread, all ready for Thursday.
Testimony recently discussed includes fingerprint evidence, as well as Westerfield's clean laundry. The Van Dam home was (strangely) devoid of fingerprints, except for a couple of latents that didn't match any of the pizza party people or, apparently, David Westerfield.
Westerfield's motorhome didn't contain any of his fingerprints, but did have one print from Danielle L. (the daughter of Westerfield's ex-girlfriend), Jennifer (a friend of Danielle L.), and a partial from Danielle Van Dam.
The prosecution said yesterday that they would be finished "in seven court days".

Maybe no big deal, but........Feldman brought out the fact that FBI labs only perform services for LE. Not surprsing, but it still hints at a prejudice.

Same bat time, same bat channel, next Monday at 9:00 A.M. BTW...somebody tell MUDD to give it a rest with the shameless Padre boosting....uck....

Hey Frez......we San Diegans love our Padres. ; *)

Wow--you are relentless! Having spent most of the afternoon doing stuff with/for the kids, your posts have kept me up to date on the trial goings-on. THanks!

I don't think they had an extravagant lifestyle - that would be champaign and caviar stuff to me - but I bet they lived beyond thier means like a lot of folks do - or else they had another source of income (drugs maybe).
I live in the midwest - I have one child - we have a modest but nice house (and are looking to move up a bit) We live off my husbands pretty decent salary - don't go out much anymore (partying and such with cover charges and bartabs). I'd rather buy stuff for my kid than for myself - he's pretty spoiled. We have one car that we bought brand new in 94 - a 95 car and a 97 blazer that we bought barely used - I'd have loved to have an excursion but yikes - not on our one salary I'm afraid. Oh yeah - we also save some (I don't think some folks do.)
I'm thinking the VD's had the house and the excursion - but also had 3 kids and all the expense it takes to spoil them with ballet / piano lessons, cool clothes, etc., Damon's toys like the snow and surf boards, manicures and Beauty parlor trips, membership (allegedly) in the 2 swinging clubs, buying at least pot (enough so that you'd reverse your lock) at California prices - I just get the feeling they lived like they had plenty of money - but did they?
I wonder how much Damon makes - have we had any really good guesses?

If planting was going to be done and the real perp extracted blood before getting rid of the body, how did they gain access to the MH which was ever so briefly at DW's house Sat. morning. How would they plant the blood on his jacket since DW had possession of it in order to take it himself to the drycleaners? Why wouldn't they sprinkle it more liberally around? This is just discussing the blood evidence alone. So, no, the photo doesn't bother me. The FACT is that Danielle's blood got on his jacket and was detectable even after drycleaning.

Other persons with short, dark hair: Diane Halfman.
To: Rheo
So let me see if I get this - somebody represented to the tester that they would be testing a blonde hair - but when the tester looked at it it was asian - not blonde?

I though that person in the photo of the VD's in court where Brenda is turning towards the woman on her left to cry was not Diane Halfman - but someone from the prosecutor's office. I don't think we've seen a pic. of Halfman yet.

champaign and caviar Have you ever tried caviar? I am curious, but have never had a desire to try it. Now if we're talking lobster you've got my attention. :-)
To: mommya
After my last reply to you I clicked on your profile since you mentioned you were in the Midwest. I laughed at your apology about your county name!
To: Jaded
Thanks - do you know any more details of the alibi? It must have checked out - but I'd sure like to know - was he with the 8 friends all night?

That seems odd, don't you think. It was earlier stated that they could extract DNA from a spot as small as a pin. What's up with that?

It would be too obvious if blood was scattered everywhere.
As for access to the MH, that's why I say it could be people in high places, i.e. SDPD. Remember I prefaced my frame theory with the fact that history shows sex scandal and public officials are a formula for many bizarre actions.
Let's just pretend that Damon killed her because she was going to tell her teacher Daddy was molesting her. Damon tells his friend, Capt. Joe Anyguy of SDPD, a swinging, dope-smoking cop-friend, that he will squeal on everyone if he goes down for the murder. Capt. Joe Anyguy and one of his swingin' LE friends decide their reputation is more important than punishing the real killer. However, if they don't finger and nail someone quickly, the scent might flow toward the swinging community.
CYA is nothing new. Is it difficult to believe that a person who had lost all moral balance would not frame an innocent man to save his own rear end? Good grief, Danielle's own father withheld some truth to cover his sorry butt while his daughter was just discovered missing. I put nothing past these people.
To: mommya
SDPD sent the mitro people a hair that they represented as blonde...the hair examiner did not pass this info to the test team...they tested and compared to their computer database of 5071 cases and the hair came back as profiling from the Asian group....that is my simple understanding.
