I think that Meir Kahane and people with views like his have significantly contributed to the situation ending up as it has. In fact, he wanted it to come to this. The fact that there may be no other options now does not make it right, or make him any less than a nasty nutcase or a hate-filled man. Rather like John Brown, perhaps. If Israel expells the Palestinians, it will only solve the problem in the short run, I fear. Truly, as I have said for many years, the only lasting solution would have been one in which the Palestinians as a whole were willing to accept Israel's existence. Conditions, some of which are Israeli induced, most of which are not, have rendered that impossible for at least a generation. It makes me very sad.

I find that an extraordinary statement. Who in your opinion in Israel held Meir Kahane's views? The government of Israel, both left and right not only destroyed him, but made his organization a pariah. Kahane and his followers were not merely made illegal, but got the US to put Kach on a list of terrorist organiztions. How did Jews get Arabs to teach their children that Jews are decended from apes and monkees?
