No, punishing a person for being overweight enough to require two seats is extreme.

It's no punishment. They're taking a seat that could otherwise be sold to another passenger. Southwest should not have to lose that revenue. RE your earlier Denny's post: point well-taken. But what the government does and what it should morally do are two different things.

When you are making someone pay a double fare simply because of their weight, how are you not penalizing that person?
