What if the airlines simply started charging "by the pound"?

I have no problems with that concept. Remember, I am a pilot and do understand the actual costs of flying.

Of course, I would have to charge based upon the miles flown, and those discount rates would no longer apply.

Giggle, I just tried to make a fuel calculation with a Boing 747. Include a woman of 280 lbs or 110 lbs. Ok, I would have to charge the fat woman about $3.27 extra.
