Edmonds isn't an Arabic name, so I think it is fair to say that the only country in the Middle East without Arabic names is Israel, therefore I don't think it is too much of a stretch to say she was trying to be recruited by Mossad. Could be a married name. Since "Sibel" is a name used in Turkey, I suspect that's where she's from. And that would mean the organization that tried to recruit her is the prohibited Refah Partisi, or one of its affiliates in Europe, like Milli Görüs.

I don't know. I doubt the FBI knows about them that these organizations would want to know. I don't think the FBI is examining them, if the FBI even couldn't stop organizations like Hamas from hetting a foothold in the US.

The Ottoman empire had translators recruited from among it's multitudes of ethnic groups.. Most were allright, but the damage that some did was unrepairable.

Turns out Sibel Edmonds is indeed of Turkish heritage--as well as being a loyal American. See this most interesting transcript from yesterday's (oct. 27) 60 Minutes broadcast.

And what's the likelihood of the FBI translation unit being the only place we have this problem?
