No. I have no connection to them at all. But this has been all over the local media. I heard the explanation about the 9 year old playing possum and overhearing the threat to her sister within a day or two of the kidnapping, on radio or television -- I forget which.
The media are like the blind man and the elephant. I have often gotten the impression that the reporter only knew a few of the fact reported, and misinterpreted others.

Re the media. I learned years ago, after reading reports of events in which I participated, that the media seldom gets everything right.

The media are like the blind man and the elephant. I have often gotten the impression that the reporter only knew a few of the fact reported, and misinterpreted others. That is the position that I am maintaining here. Am only too aware of the inaccuracies and distortions of the media. They want a story--not too concerned about facts!

Today, the Utah policeman said that the man who took Elizabeth "spoke nicely." Yet, the abductor supposedly threatened Elizabeth also. I can't quite square these two facts to my satisfaction. Can you? Was he smiling as he threatened her, or talking low? Or did the cop add this "nice" comment solely because the perp allowed Elizabeth to take her sneakers? I mean, I imagine the perp didn't want to wake anyone up, so it would be no surprise if he was talking in a hushed voice. But speaking in a calm and hushed voice doesn't make someone involved in an abduction "nice," especially when the words they are uttering are threats towards a 14 year old. I don't entirely get it.
