There was a white car involved, but not a Bronco. Do you start to get the feeling that somebody is pulling somebody's leg? Leg check!

I haven't formed any theories. I'm just fascinated with all the theories put forth here. I admit that there are a lot of things that seem odd about this whole thing, but I have no idea what to make of it. Just using my "gut instinct", I would say that the milkman looks rather innocent. But, as you say, each theory is as plausible as another at this point.

The beer-swigging Edmunds sounds a lot like the TV character (many years ago) Jim Rockford,P.I....hanging around, looking disheveled, seen here and there. Maybe an undercover FBI guy? When they didn't pick him up at the park at the vigil...little alarms went off. Come on, now--the cops see a guy who may be holding captive a young girl kidnapped from her home--and they don't throw him on the ground and cuff him? This is all so strange.

But the kidnapper is supposed to have a gun. If they approached the guy at the vigil, he might start shooting....

The note was probably more than just ransom, maybe not ransom at all. Some psychobabble about "loving" Elizabeth etc... Hence the "wonderful story" schtick. "We understand that you love her and can see it from your point of view

Good thinking. Makes sense to me.

But you don't think Edmund is the perp, do you? I do not.

I think that the milkman is innocent, too. He seemed very calm and confident "within his own skin." Also, if he were even a suspect, don't you think that the police would have at least met with him or let him tell them what he knows?

No, no, no--the milkman did not photograph the car. That was suspicious homeowner Thorkelson from Draper.

The milkman saw the driver of the green car tailing him and thought that he trying to pilfer dairy goods (evidently that is something of a problem). So the milkman tried to talk to him, just to sort of let him know that he was on to him, I gather. But the guy refused to look at him and acted real strange.

Thanks for the clarification. Just out of curiosity, do you know the height of the milkman? Do you know the name of his dairy?

this is the way the pic of the guy in the car came about: milkman told police that he had seen a suspicious grey car hanging out near/on the Smart's street just a day before the kidnapping....On wednesday, i believe...another neighbor remembered that he had seen a small green car with similar lic. in his hood, and even took a pic of it... He called the police with the pics....lic plate was re-run thur the computer and presto...the non-suspect suspect's name came up ... Don't know where they got the pic however

I'm just throwing out ideas. One seems as good as another at this point. Too much of this doen't make sense. If I were the police, I think I would at least stop by the milkman's home for an interview. He frequented the neighborhood, so that gives him some possible connection.

I heard the milkman, Charlie Miller, on a previous interview. He gave a totally different description of the man in the car cruising the avenues. He said he was smaller than Edmunds, and was wearing a white cap and plaid shirt. Charlie seems to be a nice chap. Yes, he did mention that he used to give out little treats to the neighbor children. That's just a good business tactic to attract customers. Nothing suspicious there.

I don't believe for a minute that Edmunds is a real suspect. Something else is going on here.

The milkman originally identified the car as a small gray Honda. Once this was made public, the guy that saw the green Saturn in his neighborhood that he had taken a picture of, and came forward. The milkman said that Edmunds is not the guy he saw in the gray car.

Sounds like Edmunds got marked by mistake. Oh sure, he's got warrants out for other stuff and I'm sure they'd like to pick him up regardless...but it sure doesn't sound like he was the guy lurking behind the milkman on Elizabeth's road that morning...mere hours after he would have nabbed her.

I don't know. He could be, or their overt interest in him could be a ruse.

Unfortunately for him, he looks like a cross between Son of Sam and Elvis. If the allegations about his long-term presence in the area and sudden absence the day of the abduction are true, I would say it is likely that he is the perp.

Unfortunately for us, much of what is being released to the media is disinformation, so we could easily be led to the wrong conclusions.

Now, who is the guy in Texas? Why is he trying to make himself look like/appear to be Edmunds? Or was it just a weird case of mistaken identity? Of a guy who just happens to steal water from convenience stores and clothes from Bealls?

Where is Edmunds? Who is this guy driving the green/grey car that the milkman saw? Just another weirdo cluttering up the place?

Who's on first????

What was the deal with the milkman anyway?

Police always question regular service/delivery guys in neighborhoods where crimes have been comitted. These guys are there on a regular basis, and likely to notice strangers or strange activity that even people who live there overlook.

Is it true they now have Temple divorces, so that they take the spouse away from you both here in this world, and also for eternity?

Why would he still be lurking after she was already taken? I think that little tidbit might just be a red herring.
