I have DSL so these graphics don't bother me.

You might consider what you are doing to the thousands of FReepers who are on dial-up internet access. Your spam is slowing them down to a crawl, making them angry, and thus less likely to contribute.

Consider text-only fundraiser posts.

Actually, not a bad idea. I saw some of those, especially on threads where the subject matter was particularly grim. Just a simple "excuse this interruption, etc." Not overly intrusive.

I understand .. but also if we don't raise the funds needed .. the dial up folks won't have to worry about it being slow because there won't be any site

My intentions are not to upset folks but to raise enough money to keep this site up and running so all can enjoy it
