But where do the names of the fonts come from and how would it be recognized on a site such as this???

If you use IE 5.5, click on Tools menu, then pick "Internet Options..." In the resulting dialog box, click on the "Fonts..." button. In the fonts dialog box, you can scroll through the fonts your computer is supporting. There are plain text fonts and web page fonts.
