Keeping the Marco area update here

This from the police blotter...remember I posted about the scuba story and the fire chief and his position that he has quietly held since 9-11.

Grand theft: overnight June 8 Location: 3200 San Marco Road (Moran's Marina) Marina employee John McCormick reported to police that he had gotten a report of a marina boat found on a trailer on the Collier County side of the Goodland Bridge. Police located the boat and recovered it. The boat's owner, Steve Thomas of Naples, examined the boat and discovered that the motor, battery, fuel tank, and a scuba tank were missing.

First thing that crosses my mind? They're building something. Does anyone know the type of motor that boat had? When the feds questioned that scuba rental place they wanted to know about these guys asking about specialized equip. like re-breathers and UPVS. Of course with a few more parts they could put together a boat, add some explosives and... well we can figure out the rest. BTW are there cruise ships that dock around that area?

Thanks for the update. Now if the state, county and federales can piece all this together (along with the rapist-terrorist) they may find the nucleus to be at the Naples Hilton!

I keep thinking (and chuckling) to myself as to how an opportunity it would be, as a scuba instructor, to work with these terrorists.Makes me think that some of them are too stupid to learn "safety" (kind of like the guy who wanted to learn to fly the plane, but not land).

Scuba takes such techincal skill and precision....gee, I'd sure hate to see one of them get *bent* for staying down there too long. Or, perhaps a little embolism if they ascend too quickly. Little detail left out of instruction. Boo hoo. (/sarcasm) Wouldn't it be great if we could get them all underwater, and somehow "conveniently" keep them there? How easy that would be!

I'm sure there must've been a scuba thread recently, I missed it ;)

Glad you're hanging in there, MFH. Keep it up.
