India may well return to the Russian fold, but it could be worse. India may turn to China! This is not lost on the ChiComs, who have lately been very conciliatory toward India and less so toward Pakistan. Unlike the Russians, the ChiComs are very uneasy with the prospect of improved ties between India and the US. I remember reading that the Chinese had suggested that India join them and the Russians as a counter to US power and influence. If that happens, then we would've blown it, as a result of favoring Pakistan over India.

The first and last paragraphs of this article probably reflect the Indian point of view, although the author appears to be a Muslim.

I think this guy is totally wrong.

There's a progaganda war being raged and he's helping it along.

The last few months have seen the Indian government and Bush administration come closer than any previous governments in either country.

I think the guy is twisting what has been said, or isn't paying much attention to what is being done. The last paragraph is dripping with mockery of "the world's largest democracy."

Indians see US from the prism of Pakistan. much before Bush said this - it has been official indian policy " You are with us or with the terrorists" and US by supporting pakistan and Mujaheddin was seen to be supporting terrorists. Pakistan has been causing mischief since 1948 through renegades.

Indians warmed up to US after september 11th and were very glad ( but sorry about the deaths ) to note that US is no longer with the terrorists.
