Where the hell am I gonna find numbers on that. You shouldn't make a "guarantee" if you're not ready to back it up with hard numbers.

Damn skippy. From one bat-boy to another. I suspect both of us would deal with this pogue about the same way.
It is was my kid, this guy would never make it to prison.

Name me a single town or county in this entire country where the drug war has made it impossible to buy methamphetamines. You are setting up a staw man. So unless eternal perfection is achieved it is not worth trying? Laws against murder have yet to stop murder completely. Should we give up on that too?

You got a mullet?

But if it wasn't for guns, this shooting never would have happened.Guns are a tool. They don't make people kill or hurt others. Crystal Meth obviously does.
But if it wasn't for alcohol, this drunk driving never would have happened.
Drunk driving is illegal.
But if it wasn't for cigarettes, this cancer never would have happened."
That is only hurting yourself. No legal concerns there.

Why? I'd bet the farm on it. I will bet my life on it. I am so sure that I will guarantee it. Just as I am sure that the sun will rise tomorrow. I don't need numbers. Common sense is enough.

You are setting up a staw man. So unless eternal perfection is achieved it is not worth trying? Laws against murder have yet to stop murder completely. Should we give up on that too? The difference of course being that murder violates the rights of another human being, whereas drug use in and of itself does not.
Government exists to defend rights. If a drug user violates rights, then by all means hold him accountable, and punish him harshly. Otherwise, leave him the hell alone.
It is your kind of argument (that government should attempt to prohibit inanimate objects which are not criminal in themselves, but might be associated with crimes) that is used by anti-gun activists, anti-alcohol activists, etc.
It's the road to tyranny.

Guns are a tool. Drugs are not a tool?
They don't make people kill or hurt others.
Neither do drugs.
Crystal Meth obviously does.
If you can demonstrate evidence to me, of Crystal Meth jumping out of a baggie, and committing a murder, I'll buy your argument.... otherwise, I'll afford it as much credence as I afford the arguments of anti-gun activists who insist that guns commit murders... (which is to say none)
Drunk driving is illegal.
But alcohol is not.... see the distinction?

Name one drug that the Drug War has made scarcer, more expensive or harder to obtain.
Give me one good reason why beating someone's head in while stoned on Methamphetamine is more heinous a crime than beating their head in while "in a pissy mood".

Well said.

The fact that the drug altered his mind to the point where he could not control himself from attacking a child is far more pertinent than a person deciding to pick up a gun and shoot someone.

I think you mistake our distaste with the War on Drugs for an advocacy of these poisons.
I would like to see the whole matter handled in the medical community. It is a medical problem.
To: OWK
Strawman eh? A nuke is an inanimate object. Want to make it legal to sell them at k-mart? Or does the mere fact of owning a nuke endanger your neighbors to the point where their rights are being violated?

The fact that the alcohol altered his mind to the point where he could not control himself from running over a child....
Yadda Yadda Yadda.....
It is the individual that is responsible for the action.... not the inanimate object.
Hold the individual accountable... and leave otherwise peaceful people the hell alone.

You have a habit of changing the subject when you get your butt kicked in an argument.
Stick to the subject.

Name one drug that the Drug War has made scarcer, more expensive or harder to obtain.hmmmmm that's a hard one. Let's see here. Pot, cocaine, heroine, crack, meth, speed, lsd, ecstacy.......... shall I keep going?
To: OWK
The subject is: can an inanimate object be so much of a threat, that by owning it, you violate your neighbors rights?
To: OWK
The difference of course being that murder violates the rights of another human being, whereas drug use in and of itself does not.
Perhaps you need to reread this article and think over your statement a bit more...

I thought the subject was whether or not the state should prohibit drugs or whether they should prohibit the violation of rights.
