Went through last evenings thread, and got to see all the wonderful bassety pics...arent those bassets something?(of course, mine were never so naughty as to be drinking beer, and smoking cigs when were are away)....

Palo, read of Lulus act of heroism, over on DD, and am so proud of her...she was like a little mommy, herding the runaway doggie back into his yard, so he would not be lost...Kudos to Heroine Lulu...

Well, Palo, its hot here today, tho I suppose you could consider it cool, by your standards...its 89 right here now, and that is just toooo hot...once it gets above 70, I get tooo crabby and irritable...just think, two weeks ago, I was wearing my longjohns, and now I am stripped down to next to nothing...

Thank goodness it is supposed to cool down tomorrow, and go back to our normal 70s something temps...

Being as you spoke of your Green Bay Packers, here is a little story you will appreciate...

I was born and raised in Chicago, so naturally we cheer for the Chicago Bears...and you know, full well, the rivalry, that exists, between the Bears and the Packers...

Now in October, was when our church had its big annual Homecoming, where former members and members who had moved away, came back on a Sunday afternoon service, full of remembrances, and lots of singing, and then a huge pot luck dinner in the evening...It was an immensely big event, months in the planning every year, and looked forward to by everyone...the church was packed, SRO, and no one wished to miss this great time...

Now is just so happened, that this one year, Homecoming fell on a Sunday, when the Bears and Packers would be playing against one another...and the minister, ever mindful of his flocks enthusiasm for football, wanted to be able to accomodate those sports fans, and still allow them to attend the service...so here is what they settled on...

A few of the men would 'volunteer' to sit down in the basement with a radio and a television, and watch and listen to the game(This was during the 1960s, so before the time of VCRS)

Each time the score changed one of the men would come up from the basement and go to the pulpit, and whisper into the ministers ear what had occurred in the game...And the minister would announce this to the congregation...that way, all the sports fans could attend the Homecoming service, and still get a play by play of the Bears vs Packers game...
