The problem with the Republicans for years, has been the inablility to nuke the socialist proposals by the Democrats. Instead, they promise to make them more financially efficient, and deeper rooted. The fight over the constitution, that conservatives have been waging for many years, is over, conservatives lost. We are headed down the slippery slope to a European type of society, and there is no leader capable of being elected, that can stop it. When 50% + 1 of the electorate is bought off by federal pork, the ones that promise the goodies will win every time. Welcome to tomorrow, enjoy today because it is the best things will be. Naw, I just suck it out on the Idaho side :-). As for the fedgov's contribution, it comes in the form of inspiration to Sir Locke. Whatever the fedgov does, Gary Locke believes he has to do them one better.

The socialists and fascists in Puget Sound just love him, and they seem to be under the impression that we on the eastside, exist solely to pay for maintaining their decaying infrastructure.

Unfortunately, most of the people on the east side seem also to believe that.

Oh, I forgot to mention all the wetlands nonsense. Close by, there's a place called Diamond Lake, where a guy is slowly loosing his land to wetlands regulations. The water table is rising for some reason and each year, more and more of his acreage becomes federally-protected wetlands. He can't drain it or disturb it. No one will buy it. He has to advertize to find for pasture for his livestock.

I've dug some dry ditches, just in case the water table rises beneath my land. Can't be too careful these days.

Be warned; If you own any dirt whatsoever, they will get around to you, eventually.
