Utah Man Sought in Missing Girl Case

Associated Press Writer SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — More than a week after 14-year-old Elizabeth Smart disappeared, police said Wednesday that they want to talk to a man they think may have information about the girl.
They are searching for Bret Michael Edmunds, 26. He is probably living in a 1997 green Saturn with Utah license plate number 266XJH, police said.
Elizabeth was reported taken at gunpoint from her million-dollar home last Wednesday between 1 a.m. to 2 a.m They were not calling Edmunds a suspect, but said they do want to talk to him. They had identified him through a partial license plate number provided by a milkman who had seen a vehicle in the area arround the time of the girl's disappearance.
Authorities said Edmunds is also wanted on two warrants — for fraud and assault on a police officer, Sgt. Fred Louis said. Police said he may have been in the area.
Tuesday, Police Chief Rick Dinse said the investigation was looking at those who had access to the neighborhood or the house, although not necessarily a family member. He said they have received some promising leads in the case.
Officials from the Utah Department of Corrections have given police a list of dozens of names of known sex offenders on probation or parole, but nearly all of them have been cleared, said Jack Ford, an agency spokesman.

Now, he's CLEAN CUT. A homeless person would not be able to keep himself cleaned up like this. Second, where did this picture come from? Does this guy have a record? Is it a mugshot (I don't think so)? I'll tell you where it came from. It looks exactly like the type of picture I saw in an LDS' church directory. This guy is LDS! I'd bet money on it! I had a friend set me up with a guy from his LDS church. When he went to show me what he looked like, he pulled out a book with pictures that looked exactly like this one.
Before I go further, I just want to make clear that I am not bashing LDS. They are great people and one in particular helped me out in real life in ways I can never repay. He was a wonderful man. That being said, there are unstable people in every religion (trust me, I know), so here goes.
The family knows who it is. That's why the father seems suspicious to many people. He's holding back in this respect. They don't want to announce it for several reasons, but LDS are a tight knit group and they don't reveal their personal business easily to outsiders. I think that's what's happening here. I think that's one reason Marc Klaus feels slighted. Anyway, I'd bet this guy was in that house either for religious studies, or work on the house. It is very plausible the father would do business with other LDS. Isn't he is an elder or high up in the church? He may have been counseling this guy or trying to help him out.
I would doubt he's touched Elizabeth sexually at all. He'd be too afraid. I'd guess he's taken pretty good care of her, maybe had a room all prepared for her before he took her. She's a beautiful bird in a gilded cage. He maybe even has a harp in there for her to play for him. I'd doubt he'd hurt her, except in a fit of rage if she tried to escape.
There's my theory.
Why?
We know he is unstable and probably has an explosive temper. Elizabeth hopefully will watch her step. Do we know if he is a sex offender?
I just heard today in NYC where a elderly couple was murdered and the supect entered an open window!
