26 minutes to shoot down a plane full of American citizens, in American airspace, when no-one had ever imagined that a plane could be used as a weapon? Give us a break.
The authorities knew prior to the first plane hitting the WTC, that the plane was hijacked.
In fact jets were scrambled out of Otis A.F.B. to take out Flight 11, but were 10 minutes when the plane hit the WTC at 8:45 a.m.

Apparently you have no brains, if you did you would be questioning the actions of our officials on 9/11/02. The irony in this statement is just great.

Otherwise, you would not be posting here.

When did I ever defend Bill or Hillary?I do believe veteran Freepers know exactly how much truth lies in this statement.

Yeah, and if flight 77 WAS shot down, I wonder who would be complaining the loudest???
What's the frequency, Kenneth?

Sure, it is hypothetically possible that we sat on our hands. It is also possible that the plane was flying over a heavily populated area and we debated shooting the plane out of the sky, knowingly killing all passengers and innocent people on the ground. 26 minutes isn't much time to develop "policy" on this kind of thing.
Remember we also had a flight over Pennsylvania in the same mode. Easier to shoot from the sky, but just as difficult a decision.
I would rethink your timeline and think harder on how difficult the dicision to act or react must have been. Remember also, the President was being shuffled around in the sky for fear of his being a target too! This was all pretty complicated to consider in 26 minutes!

I believe he got specific threats against him, so he was getting higher than normal protection. Not unusual in govt.

Extensive grilling is due to those officials most responsible for allowing this to happen. Those officials were removed from office less than a year before this event after screwing American security agencies and assisting our enemies for 8 yrs.
Every RAT Senator and Representative should be called to account for his/her sabotage of our national security and military. No punishment is too extreme for Clinton, Hillary, Gore, Cohen, Dashole, Gephardt, Torricelli, Schumer, Leahy, Byrd, Durbin, Feinstein, Boxer, Biden, etc. etc. etc.
It is a no-brainer. Enemies controlled the Government until 1/20/01 without a doubt.

BTW - What was the reason that last year Ascroft started flying on military aircraft when on vacation? Better question -- if the Bush administration knew about the threat, why was the U.S. Solicitor General's wife on board flight 77?

We here on FR had all sorts of time to determine whether or not you'd keep you promise and never post again if Bush lost CA and NY but won the election - yet we incorrectly assumed you'd be gone forever.
I guess we should've known a congential liar like yourself wouldn't keep your word.

I don't believe that there were any circumstances under which an US Air Force Jet would shoot down an American civilian aircraft, over densely populated US airspace, during peacetime, simply because it had been hijacked.
The nonsensical assumption that we could change our policy regarding firing on unarmed civilian aricraft (owned by US corporations mind you) in 26 minutes, and then send Jets to accomplish this fact, is ridiculous, counter productive, and sounds more to me like the kind dribble I would expect from the Democratic Underground.
Had it actually been accomplished, the lawsuits would have never ended.

F-16s out of Andrews A.F.B. I have seen this addressed several times on various threads.
Can you tell me what unit is at Andrews?
Active, Guard, or Reserve?
How many aircraft were on station that day?
How many of these aircraft were mission capable?
Of these, how many were fueled?
Are they on alert at all times (meaning "cocked" with weapons and a crew on stand-by).
If not, how long do you figure it would take to get a crew and weapons ready for launch?
These are but a few of the questions that would have to be answered in order to determine if the aircraft at Andrews could have and should have been launch to shoot down a civilian aircraft.
