Well, the GD--as well as the Latin Kings--were heavily recruiting in Green Bay (look at a map--we're just about four hours due north of Chicago--with easy access via the interstates--& would open up new markets to them) about 5-6 years ago and given our population base, it'd be a surprise if they even found a minority to recruit (most of the minorities are Hmong--and they have their own gangs out of Minneapolis--and Hispanic, but that surge has only come in the past few years). The city is predominately German, Dutch, Belgian and Polish heritage, I'd say in the range of 90% at the 2000 census. Oh, some of the FIB immigrants did set up their own drug operations (mostly coke), but they were heavily recruiting among the lily-white teens in town (they thought it was most cool, until most ended up in prison) and they did join the Chicago-based gangs.
If you think it can't happen in small town (or in our case, small city) America, you're sadly mistaken. It most certainly happened here.
