I have never owned a gun nor wanted to, but am seriously thinking about finding and joining a gun club in my locality. In spite of the fact that the Left, as well as Timothy McVeigh and other fringe wackos, have encouraged the general public to think of militias as something bad, the truth is this:
- Every time volunteers gather to try to find a missing child, that is the militia in action in its historical context.
- Every time we see volunteers band together to deal with a disaster or emergency, that is the historical militia in action.
- Every time we see volunteers try to stop a crime, or help when there is a traffic accident, or otherwise get involved in time of need, that is the historical militia in action.
If the radical Islamists want to kill us from within in such numbers as to overwhelm law enforcement, I hope every able-bodied American realizes what the historical purpose of a militia is, and takes action accordingly.
Very good point and IMHo that was the intent and purpose of the Founding Fathers in setting up a "well regulated militia" and enacting the Second Amendment. Hopefully this is talk by the terrorists. If not, things for Arabs will get really really bad out here.
