When riding in the van to Dallas for that counter-protest, I had the pleasure of visiting with a young woman - A Messianic Jew. She attends a Temple in Houston and told me how tight security is there.

Without a picture ID, she cannot get inside the building, unless someone can vouch for her. They've had to hire off-duty police to guard them, as well as a committee to screen people entering!

I had no idea and I doubt other non-Jews do, without hearing it from someone who lives the fear when they gather in a group.

This is just another in a line of double standards. Don't any Christians in the midwest get any idea being armed will be tolerated. New Yorkers carrying guns is OK. They are not religious extremists.

I was talking to a Houston cop last weekend and he confirmed the same thing. The synagogues in Houston hire off-duty cops.

The mosques, however, are guarded by on-duty cops.

You're right, it is wise to organize. The 3,500,000 Jews in New York City ought to focus on getting the gun laws in New York State changed so that a CCW permit must be issued. That way someone other than Don Imus, friends of judges and politicians might be able to defend themselves.
