Hey, I don't mind him, and he is a very nice man. I just don't consider his paintings art. I consider them decorative pieces. They are well-done, but I don't think they fall into the fine art category.
As I said, he hasn't asked for a government hand out, he has been very successful, and if people want to collect them, that is fine by me.
And, after all, art IS in the eye of the beholder, to a great extent. Who's to say I am right and you are wrong?

No, apparently Bosch was quite mad! Sances spouts the same old, tired, leftist liturgy that's mired in the muck of dilletantism. However, the a**holes who have a fiduciary responsibility to the Taxpayers of the City of Vallejo "just don't get it!"

Do you think I can get funding for my creativity? No. The NEA expressly forbids public funding of such sacrilege. (Sarcasm meter just exploded.)

I agree that Kincade's art doesn't fit into the *fine* art classification. But it does invoke a sense of yesteryear and calm, which is what I most appreciate.
My absolute favorite artist is Andrew Wyeth. Especially his Christina's World piece. Sweet story behind it.

No. The NEA expressly forbids public funding of such sacrilege However, if you are AIDs infected and cut yourself with a razor blade or smear yourself with feces, you've still got an excellent chance of funding 'cause that's REAL art...If the NEA won't fund you on the federal level, check with the city of Vallejo.

"There are some people in this town," Robeski said, "who just don't get it." I really, really, really hate publicly-funded art, not least because penile implants like the above individual start to see public funding as their inalienable right.
Optimist that I am, I see this issue as a coalition-builder between libertarians and religious conservatives.

Spooky?!
The fact that you've drawn all of your assumptions because the lights are on in Kinkaid's paintings is Spooky!

Good point, but I continue to maintain that those of us who scream, yell, picket and protest this sort of thing when it opens in some faggot-infested part of the big city, simply become part of the "performance."

Oh, if you appreciate a sense of yesterday and calm, you would fall in love with an artist named Bob Byerley. His paintings are so real, they look like he took a picture, instead of painting.
To own a signed and numbered copy of any of his originals, is my goal..The man is as good or better than Norman Rockwell....trust me.

I don't think Rene Magritte or Kinkade are all that good.
The best art I like is, "The Picture of Dorian Grey" :-)

I also would recommenf William Phillips. Here is one of his works:

**Kinkaid likes to be called the new Norman Rockwell** source?
QVC, every time he's on. ;o)
Kincaide (Kinkade, whatever) is a salesman's salesman. He can certainly peddle his paintings. And the "documentary" I watched of him painting stuff in some foreign country (prints available, of course) was testament to his sales artistry, the "Citizen Kane" of infomercials.
He is a pseudo-impressionist whose work is surpassed by any number of Disney cartoon background painters (see some of the work for "Snow White," "Pinocchio," etc.).
When it comes to impressionism and "painting light," any Monet exposes a Kinkade for what it is.
But if you like Kinkade's work, I say go for it. I'm not ashamed to tell anyone I like the commercial "calendar art" of Paul Detlefsen.

To: Miss Marple
Dang, that painting has everything! A ray of sun breaking through the clouds, a stone bridge, barn, church, landscape, a shimmering stream, light playing on leaves, mood, and a flippin' B-17! ;o)
To: Risky Schemer
Hmmm. Your source provides no information he considers himself to be the new Rockwell.

**Bob Byerley.**
I'll check him out today. Thank you. :o)
To: Artist
The answer to Kincade isn't to ban his works. It's for right-winger artists to have a little fun with the other side. Jesse Jackson in a gangster motif. Tom Daschle painted like a WWII gremlin or the Monster on the Wing Twilight Zone episode crashing a forest-fire plane. parsy.

Gotta love the B-17 flying by. You can hear the whir of the engine as the last beams of evening shimmer on the machine gun barrels.
