On Friday, as Michael Skakel stood to hear the Norwalk Superior Court jury foreman read his guilty verdict, about 20 friends and family members stood behind him.

When judicial marshals stepped forward to handcuff him, David Skakel reached in support to lay a hand on his brother's shoulder, only to have it thrown off by a uniformed marshal.

..it's still a surprise that the police in Greenwich were willing to actually ruin the life of the innocent Skakel "tutor-babysitter" Ken Littleton by harrassing him continually in an attempt to get him to confess to the murder rather than focus in on the two suspects who were obvious from the very beginning, Tommy and Michael Skakel.

Well, I'm not really surprised about the police there pointing everything away from the Skakels. After reading Fuhrmann's book, it became obvious that they were just intimidated by Rushton Sr. and the Skakel money.

Though Rushton Sr. I seem to recall was not even working, except nominally in the family business at that point. I think he had been forced out due to his drinking. Pretty amazing that the police didn't want to pursue this, but I bet it happens in a lot of cases.

And you mention Martha's diary, the last I heard, her mother still had not gotten it back, after all these years. Maybe now they'll turn it over to her.

In relation to the police... I think they had the same issue as they did in Colorado... They had never had a crime like murder to investigate before and didn't know how and didn't ask for help from other law enforcement agencies who had.

I had read that book when it came out, and I, like you, dug it out this weekend. It all makes sense now. Everybody should read it.

Compare the Skakels with Ethel's brood; what can we learn here, class?

The fact is, if Rushton Skakel had let his kids take responsiblity for their actions 27 years ago, this "cloud" would have diappeared years ago. He would have spent his six years in jail and we'd have all forgotten about it.

MEMO TO GARY CONDIT: It ain't over till it's over.

How repressive to teach about right and wrong?!

How absurd also to believe any sexual repression or notion of right vs wrong exists in the Kennedy family!

Anybody seen or read anything to indicate where or at what manner of establishment and accomodations Michael is to be staying prior to sentencing?

The local TV stations have reported that he is in a prison in Suffield (15-20 miles north of Hartford, just south of the Massachusetts line). He is confined to a single cell (8.5 x 10.5 ft), and is undergoing initial medical and psychiatric evaluation. He gets an hour a day, alone in the yard, to exercise. He will only be moved to another facility if he is put on "suicide watch", at least until he is sentenced.

That would be the MacDougall state pen. Doesn't sound like any sort of a countryclub or gentlemans prison...
