Surely you recall that, at the time, there were far more important things for U.S. foreign policy to concern itself with.
Specifically, after Hussein had ejected the inspectors, we had to wait precisely five weeks to launch an attack. We were cleverly waiting for the reconvening of the House, in order to consider the Articles of Impeachment against the Scumbag-in-Chief. Then, and only then, was an attack launched by that selfsame Scumbag-in-Chief.
In other words, we (and the world) accepted the inspectors being booted out in order to further a far more important goal: providing a media distraction that served to help the Scumbag-in-Chief stay in office.

The sources were Iraqi defectors, IIRC, who claim that the smallpox virus was procured from sources in the bioweapons program in the former Soviet Union.

BTW, I've read several threads over the past several weeks re: Bush doesn't have a "plan on his desk". He's correct. We have plans, Alpha thru Zulu, with about 100 contingency plans over at the Pentagon and Puzzle Palace.

And probably will continue to do so for the next decade or so. Makes me wanna spit in his eye! (and do some other things to him I can't type here :)
When Bush said "there are no plans on my desk to attack Iraq" he was correct. Those responsible for providing those plans; Powell, Rumsfield and other upper level military personnel admit that they, as yet, have not completed THE plan. Bush has not wavered.
Rush Limbaugh had a fit on the air over the fact that up until that time, the impression everyone had been given was that there would be an attack on Iraq. During Bush's visit to Europe, a reporter asked Bush if an attack was imminent and Bush said that as of that moment "there were no war plans on my desk".
Rush immediately jumped to the conclusion that the war on Iraq was not going to happen and rather than think that maybe Bush's answer was given the way it was as a polite way of not broadcasting our intentions to the entire world, he assumed that Bush had caved to people in the State Department who for whatever strange reason want to keep Saddam Hussein in power.
So no, I was right and Bush was right. Reading posts carefully is essential to grasping their meaning.

When do you think the impending festivities will occur? Do you have any ideas?
But the plans exact location is "covered stuff"..!
The bad guys are, and will remain, in a world of hurt.
