Aw, you don't need anything that fancy. Just hire the Russians. They're real good at shooting down commercial airliners that stray off course. Just paint KAL on the planes.
You could be wrong about that. I have had some training and practical experience in psychiatry.
I've always been a fan of the old .45-70, particularly with black powder in the old "trapdoors". Back in the '60's Pappy had a sawed-off Springfield "horse-pistol", which he claimed would "Seperate the men from the boys". I never got to fire it, but watched in awe as he and some of his pals did from the back porch of our place in the mountains of New Hampshire; it was quite spectacular!
It seems that someone is always coming up with a .45-70 revolver, but they don't seem to stay in business very long. Is this a production model or a custom job? It looks like it's based on a ruger Super Blackhawk frame to me. How many rounds fit in the cylender?
My old model (bought in '68) RSB in .44Mag is about all the handgun I figure I'll ever really need for anything, and the way my paw feels after a couple cyl.-fulls of full-house mag rounds, that's enough. If it isn't, then it's time to break out the 12-guage or .30-06!
As to armed Pilots; it just makes too much sense for the beauraucracy to allow it; besides, only "Federal Employees" - like those cretans who frisk the little old ladies while letting the ragheads slide - are supposed to have any power, or even any symbols of power in our "enlightened" society, right?
We understand that Federal Marshalls, Postal Inspectors, etc. are allowed to board airlines armed, but State Police Officers, Private Investigators, etc,. are not. Do we see a pattern here?
As soon as all Airlines and their Crew Members are "Federalized" and under total Government control, we'll see them armed quick enough.
Those of us who express disapointment with our "Leader" in Washington when he seems to bend over and grab the ankles to Tommy d'Ashole, Hillary et.al. in order to further, rather than resist, their socialist agenda for America, will get no argument from me.
As much as I would like to see such incompetent, stuffed - shirt hacks who put "PC" way ahead of National Security such as Ridge and Minetta sent packing, I fear that they will instead be elevated to pivotal positions of control within this "new and improved" "Homeland Security" beauraucracy where they will promptly begin to set us up for bigger and more catastrophic attacks in the future.
What was so wrong with the old "Civil Defense" of WW-II?
Oh; now I remember; it involved arming, training, and empowering United States Citizens for the defense of our Homeland, rather than Federal officials and "Employees" exclusively, upon whom we are expected to be totally dependant for our very existance.
Right.
Can't think of a better case for jury nullification. An American jury has the final say on both the facts of the case and the legitimacy of the law and its application. The Supreme Court has so ruled.
Would you convict a pilot for carrying a gun onboard a plane? I wouldn't.
BTW, I'd buy a .454 Casul Ruger for $25.00 over cost any day, just to have one! Maybe I'd even like shooting it! It is an awesome handcannon, no question about it.
Magnum Research makes it in 7.5 inch and 10 inch barrels. It is a 5 shot. If you want one, make sure it has a serial number starting with "JT". That model has a stronger frame, extended cylinder to handle 500 gr bullets and a set screw to retain the base pin. It is in fact based on a Ruger Super Blackhawk design...right down to the transfer bar safety. Too bad they didn't include the Ruger scope mounts too. Here is the web page.
It is really a pleasure to shoot 45LC from the Ruger .454 Casull. I recommend buying Starline brass for both the 45 LC and .454 Casull. The Hornady 300 gr JHP is a fine hunting round, but you have to tap the fire formed brass out of the cylinder with a wood dowel. The Hornady brass is too soft. The Starline brass drops free as soon as you invert the open cylinder. I rarely have to even tap the extractor rod. The Western Bullet 255 gr FN plated with 7 grains of Winchester 231 is a fine load for the 45 LC Starline brass. It has a proper cannelure for making a roll crimp. Winchester 296 is my preferred powder for the .454 Casull. It needs a heavy roll crimp to keep the other unexpended cartridges from unseating the bullets with a hot load. BTW, Ruger tested the cylinder to 92,000 CUP. .454 Casull tops out at 60,000 CUP. It is a very sturdy revolver. The 44 Mag max SAAMI pressure is 40,000 CUP.
It does in litigation and its spirit and its personal survived the merger. And American, already a tired old Peter-Principled, bureaucratic, dinosaur, is the worse for it.
As for the rest, I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote -- but I am not sure you realize that what you read is not what I meant..
[And I will stand by my professional assessment]
Absolutely! But that underscores my point that American -- along with its low-bidders and quota-hires -- is a tired old dinosaur -- and needs to be allowed to fail!
[I suggest that, in America, SouthWest, for the moment, provides the model for the way a modern airline needs to be run. The relationships among all of its professionals are based in professional pride and in professional respect]
