The decline of one point in Republicans has to be within the margin of error, so much so as to be statistically insignificant. That W is keeping his base solidly with him belies the wails of El Rushbo and the Klown Kar Krowd over at the Weekly Standard.

Now that the Democrats have decided to concentrate on "how we screwed up the war", Bush turns the issue about and asks Americans "how we can win the war in the future". Americans want an investigation into the failures to anticipate the terrorist attacks of 9-11, but they are firmly focused on winning the war. The point is, the Dims have inadvertantly refocused public attention on Bush's strong suit: the war. Bush's elegant aikido move, coopting the Democratic demands for a cabinet level Department of Homeland Security, effectively shut down the Democratic theme machine for the remainder of this electoral cycle. Now the issue will be: "...why are the Democrats conducting needless turf battles when American security is under threat. Geez, I gave 'em what they wanted! Oh, and by the way, the Dems won't give you any new judges, either."

I really like George W. Bush's position going into the campaign right now.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

A family member has political connections and when GW is coming to a locality for a fundraiser or personal appearance-everybody,but everybody, wants to come and see the President in person.Even Democrats will call for tickets. And afterwards,no one is disappointed, not only does the President connect with the audience in a warm and genuine way, but, he makes you so proud to be an American. After a few weeks of Rush's attention grabbing tantrums and dire warnings that Bush was losing his base-I called for their reaction. After checking-Rush was not registering on anyone's radar, in fact his rants may have shored up some support. You know how it is-you can criticize your own family, but when outsiders do it,you circle the wagons. I think the Dems and Rush cannot comprehend how completely and viscerally affected many were, by 9/11. The most important thing to them, is to have GW remain a strong and effective war president.

Agree. It was a masterful stroke. The dims have gotta be in cold sweats by day and sleepless by night.

The President is not worried about his poll numbers so why should we? We know he's doing a great job and I have confidence in Dubya
