Doublespeak, disinformation and propaganda are an epidemic in the political and cultural world of America. My son's (private school) summer reading list included Brave New World. He also has a Dad-required supplemental reading assignment of 1984.
Teach the young to recognize these techniques early.
I'll probably also have him read the propaganda chapter of Mein Kampf right after reading 1984. The Big Lie has been in constant use by the Left for at least 40 years.

I have an 11 year old neice spending 6 weeks at our home - and I've got a book list - I'm wondering if you think she's too young for 1984, Animal Farm, etc.....just looking for a little advice....thanks
