I want to work out some kind of immunity since I'm now superstar status. Let's do lunch. BTW, that pic wasn't that obscene yesterday. It was just a butt.

A bit of UI change I would recommend that might help this problem quite a bit. The List of Topics page (used to select topics when posting) states prominently at the top:
Choose any number of topics
which I had taken as an invitation to select more, not fewer, topics, thinking that was
better.
How about changing that to some such as:
Choose one or a few particularly relevant topics
give or take some word smithing.

Just in case you are actually looking for input - Add "Science" to the topic list

Can I suggest that an 'Irish interest' be included alongside the check list for the individual states, Canada etc.
There is already one for the UK..but it's not really appropriate (and actually 'twould be fairly insulting) to post articles of Irish interest under a United Kingdom heading.
There are quite a few people here that I regularly ping that indicate their interest in Irish topics...I guess it's a result of the massive Irish diaspora across the globe.
Anyway, just a suggestion :-)

Okay, I read it but not sure I can handle it. It's all so confusing for peabrain blondes like myself. I just don't have the highpowered intellectual capacity that most Freepers have to keep up with all these changes. I hardly know where to put my coffee cup when I'm done drinking it, much less where articles should be posted. I've been trying to mainstream, but I wouldn't blame you if you sent me back to the 'special' kids class......

As an old-timer, the "traditional" topics are fairly easy to distinguish.
And I really like the "new" way of selecting topics when posting.
I try to pick from the various U.S. States that are listed whenever appropriate.
However, I do wish that some other foreign nations would be added to this list.
There are a few there, such as Israel, United Kingdom, etc.
But there are also some glaring omissions, such as China, European Union, United Nations, Cuba, etc. etc.
I would hope this little enhancement could be implemented rather quickly.
There are, of course, other categories that could be addressed.
It was anounced some time ago that this feature was eventually intended to replace the "bump lists"
I realize that there may be other forum programming needs that take priority.
That's fine, I can live with what we have knowing that improvements will eventually be implemented.
Just the same, it would be nice to see the "little" one I mentioned put in place.
Thank-you.

Is a major problem that people are posting to ALL the headings on the sidebar in just one post? So that an article is actually being posted to: Breaking, AND Extended, AND Front Page AND Editorial? Does that actually happen?
If so, and I did not even realize this, as I try hard to choose just ONE of the above, IF I think it is even applicable, then, is it possible to have a way where the article does not post if more than one of the above is chosen? (I am thinking of how the article will not post if, for example, there are too many words in the title.) Then, in a similiar way, maybe a red warning could come up: YOU HAVE TOO MANY SIDEBAR HEADINGS.

Thanks for clearing this up. Being new to the site, I wasn't sure how to do this. I thought the topic selector helped me pick the topics I wanted to be e-mail about. I'm so dreadfully sorry!
