The acting out children, those are the easy ones to spot. The difficult ones are the Dr's kids (Some in my family), the preacher's kids (from our local church), the honor students (one graduated this week, I know the details because, well just because). "Acting out" children are usually trying to tell us something. Those who don't act out are sometimes damaged so deep it doesn't show! Yes, they learn, though a hit or worse, what is and isn't acceptable behavior "IN PUBLIC" and the rest is "NOBODY'S BUSINESS"! A typical phrase in an abusive home.

We learn as we live..and learning from people such as yourself, as helped me and others modify our belief system. I just never would have guessed prior to the info that has been brought out on these threads that abused kids can act happy and well behaved at such a young age without acting out.. There could be some overlooked signs...but it would probably take an ''expert'' to identify.

Seems that The Damon has had a manicure...and, as mentioned before, has he ever been photographed in a short sleeve shirt?  Maybe hiding tatoos??

My youngest son acted out--a lot--but I thought it was because of the alcoholism of my husband and all that went along with that. I never dreamed it was because from the time he was 8 until he was 12 that he was being molested by a neighbor's older son. I was devastated when I learned that a couple of years ago (and this happened over 30 years ago!). They stay silent but it's a deadly silence. I just thank God he's dealing with it now.
