She's right, but posting articles like this is like probing the matrix for a spark of consciousness.

A variation on this article that does not pertain to education. Being from an older generation, I see an alarming trend toward totalitarian thought. Political corectness is totalitarian in its nature along with most other current issues.

A person or group might have some strange ideas in my younger days but it was felt that they had the right to feel this way if they wanted. Now we criticize and proclaim that they should be forced to do differently.

By advocating that something should be forced upon someone, we each lose a little freedom for we condition ourselves to believe that force is necessary in some cases.

Our officials believe that force must be used to regulate us, even though most regulations do more harm than good. We see it in foreign affairs where nations that do not meet our criteria should be forced to do our bidding, even though our intervention creates more problems than it solves.

The live and let live attitude of freedom is being replaced by the totalitarian attitude of forcing an issue on someone or some region. We will all pay for it in the end when we are forced to submit to the party that will force us to comply. Totalitarianism is alive and well in the US. Freedom is disappearing fast.
