Bush was responding to a question from a reporter about the NYT article. He didn't "come out" and do anything.

You think he would've distanced himself in that way if not for the conservative firestorm? Look, I don't think Bush actually believes humans are causing global warming. All I'm saying is that his dismissive comments were calculated to defuse the situation; if there was less criticism I suspect he would've been less dismissive.

And so what if they were dismissive, designed to do just that? Its good politics.It helps for Republicans to be good at politics; God knows enough of them scream when they get rolled by the Democrats because they are too bloody dumb to excel at politics.

I just heard Rush play a clip from Ari Fleischer's briefing.

He is saying that the Administration's position is supportive of the EPA report.

As I understand his remarks, their position is that human activity is "likely mostly" responsible for global warming.
