I gave up snowmobiling in VT years ago. The trails that we VAST (VT Assoc. of Snow Travelers)members built, maintained, and repaired were littered with cross country skiers who went out of their way to inconvenience sledders and make us feel unwelcome on the trail system we were responsible for. As usual, there were some perfectly pleasant folk who would smile and wave as we passed, but most were the typical yuppie tree hugger-types who were resentful of those of us who dared enjoy the VT wilderness via internal combustion engine.
Snowmobilers, stick to NH and ME (not politically much better). The trails are better and less crowded and the eco's haven't taken over yet. Better yet, go to Canada where the locals actually value the business that snowmobilers bring.
