EPA Global Warming Report Violates White House Agreement To Settle Lawsuit

Report Relying On Discredited Science Previously Disavowed As Official Policy

Washington, D.C.,

The Environmental Protection Agency’s latest report on global warming to the United Nations, Climate Action Report 2002, violates an agreement between the White House and the Competitive Enterprise Institute, three members of Congress, and other non-profit advocacy groups, struck in settlement of a lawsuit. The report relies in part on the discredited National Assessment on Climate Change.

As a result of the lawsuit filed in October 2000, the Bush Administration ultimately agreed in September 2001 to withdraw the National Assessment and stated that its unlawfully produced conclusions are “not policy positions or official statements of the U.S. government.” EPA has ignored this agreement in issuing its report to the United Nations.

“Through Freedom of Information Act inquiries, we learned that the National Assessment was hurriedly slapped together in an incomplete and inaccurate form,” said Christopher C. Horner, CEI counsel who filed the lawsuit. “The current Climate Action Report inappropriately cites the disgraced National Assessment, in clear violation of the spirit and letter of our agreement with the White House in return for withdrawing our suit.”

Adds Myron Ebell, director of global warming policy at CEI: “The Administration has recognized that the National Assessment is the worst sort of junk science. For the EPA now to accept the National Assessment’s findings as valid undermines and contradicts President Bush’s global warming policies. The EPA needs to be told that the Clinton Administration is gone and Al Gore did not win the election.”

The lawsuit against the White House’s flawed climate science was brought jointly by CEI, Senator James Inhofe (R-OK), Representatives Joe Knollenberg (R-MI) and Jo Ann Emerson (R-MO), and other non-profit advocacy groups. CEI’s pleadings in the case can be found in the docket at the federal District Court for the District of Columbia (CV 00-02383).

monroedna: Some beaurocrat's head will roll for this...and possibly an entire chain of command. There is no way Bush knew the details of this. Damage control happens very rarely in W's administration. There is a reason: People get their head nanded to them on a platter, and the firings go all the way down.
Care to tell me who has been fired in any of these messes so far?

Two hundred years ago, the founding fathers intended a separation of Church and State; James Madison wrote, “religion and Government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together.”

Their intent was to take away the ability for those who govern to use religion to coerce individuals.

Today, subjective science is used to accomplish the task that the misuse of religion would accomplish if not for the First Amendment.

Science and government will exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together. We need an amendment to separate Science and State.

The First Amendment helps guard against government misusing religion to coerce individuals and shackle liberties. Two hundred years ago, the founding fathers intended a separation of Church and State; James Madison wrote, “religion and Government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together.”

If Madison were around today he would be saying, "Science and government will both exist in greater purity the less they are mixed together." We need an amendment to separate Science and State. We need it yesterday.

"“The current Climate Action Report inappropriately cites the disgraced National Assessment, in clear violation of the spirit and letter of our agreement with the White House in return for withdrawing our suit.”"

I smell a Clinton-type bureaucRAT that forged ahead as if there were 'no controlling legal authority'. I would bet that a 'similar' type presentation turned 'evolutionary theory' into 'evolutionary science' as taught in our schools today.(Making fiction fact for the purposes of the Marxist AGENDA)

The individual IQ---where science ends and religion(faith) begins--

In a large part today because the 'left' IS teaching their religion(faith) as science in partnership with the government. The government as 'preacher'.

Since enviralism is the religion of the Druid elites who control the the enviral organizations, we have the laws. Just consider Club Sierra, Greenpeace, Peta to be religions which they are.

Then, we have the Rico laws. We need to start suing the individuals in government who push bad science for their religion, enviralism. Then if there is a link between these federal enviralist and the enviral religion they belong to, then sue the elite Druids who run/manage/control that Enviral religion.

The three pillars of the leftists in America:

No Controlling Legal Authority

Use of bad science to be the foundation of their religion/ism.

Dumbing down of American Sheeple with their leftist schools and leftist propaganda from their leftist media to make the bad science their dogma/ism!

...for an honest appraisal, you need to talk to geophysicists and geochemists,
not "pollution control" chemists

Agreed. My chemist buddies would be honest that they are studs in pesticide analysis
by gas chromatography-mass spec or LC-MS, but would readily admit long term climate
prediction is beyond their expertise.
I suspect they'd say (in private)about 99% of the EPA can't tell us where the weather is going.

The 'single pillar' of dictatorial power---

I AM THE CONTROLLING LEGAL AUTHORITY!!! YOU are not and can not be 'free' except by my dictate.

Thus, the power of God in whose presence all dictators are doomed to fail and fall.

Periodically, the 'pharoahs' and 'wanderers' are given rebuke, at the expense of earthly life. Then, again, the children will see the 'Single Pillar' that does not fail or fall--the GREAT I AM.

That single great pillar is why the Rats, the socialists, and communists work 24/7 to destroy the Christian/Jewish religions. They know the power of God when it is bestowed on his people who believe in him!

Your foolish idea would be a return to the spoils system which career civil service was designed to avoid. Why in the world would you want to see the federal employees dependent upon satisfying the political whims of the winning party?

We have that kind of government in Chicago and it ain't good. What it does is transform the public employee into a publicly subsidized political operative of the democRATic party.

Ever hear of Tammaney Hall, or Boss Crump, Boss Hague, the Cook County Democratic machine? Familiarize yourself with them before you make anymore suggestions for "improvements."

What is your suggestion?

Are you a rat working for the fed and afraid if this is enacted, you will be out on the curb?

My suggestion is you study the history of political regimes who do precisely what you suggest and how rapidly political corruption becomes overwhelming. These regimes then pad the payroll with ghost payrollers whose only job is to work for the local party for its advancement. There is no firing for incompetence if the sponsors of the job holders say "no."

People who pop off without understanding the history of the problem they are attempting to solve do no one any good and only stand in the way of solutions.

I prefer to allow the bureaucracy to do its job whether or not it agrees with the policies of the elected officials. Did you not support those whistleblowers who showed what the Clinton's were up to or would you prefer they have to power to fire their critics merely for being critical?

How is totally politicizing the federal work force going to help anyone except politicians?

I have analyzed the problem for about 3 decades.

Do you work for the federal government, a state government or serve as a vendor/consultant to them?

You are really defending the status quo of these clymers paid with our tax $'s.
