Tell me, do you believe in global warming?

"Global Warming" has become a buzzword for a whole set of beliefs and policies, most of which I dismiss as yer basic grab for power by left-leaning do-gooders who want to tell the rest of us what to do and how to live... for our own good, of course. I figure the junk science and the stuff about Saving The Planet are just a handy means to the end, which is really just to be able to tell everybody else what to do... for their own good. This is what leftists do. They want to save us, whether from environmental catastrophe, hamburgers, or big business. Just so long as they can tell us what to do.

Near as I can tell, it is a scientific fact that certain gases like CO2 help trap heat in the atmosphere; I don't think we get to argue about that. Neither is there much dispute that burning thing up, like we do with fuels, releases CO2 into the atmosphere. This for me is where things start to get murky.

As I understand it, our competitors in this endeavor are the plants. Most people do not consider plants our enemies, but they are. Plants are always taking CO2 out of the atmosphere, and doing what they call "fixing" it in organic materials (like more plants). If you think about this for very long, you realize that what the plants are trying to do is freeze us out. They are trying to remove the greenhouse gases from the atmosphere in a selfish effort to make more of themselves, oblivious to the fact that this is letting the Earth's heat escape into space, and will eventually turn our beautiful planet into a big frozen rock. And you thought plants were our friends.

It seems to me that our role in the ecosystem is to cut down the plants and burn them, literally and figuratively. The lower animals have proven to be total failures at this, so it is up to us humans to protect the Earth from the atmosphere-marauding plants. By burning these damned plants, we release the CO2 that these evil creatures have "fixed" in their so-called organic material, and we put it back into the atmosphere where it can help trap the Sun's heat and keep the Earth from turning into a whirling ball of ice.

Now this Global Warming debate, it seems to me, is about whether we or the plants are ahead in this struggle. These leftists want us to believe that we humans are burning stuff up so fast that the plants can't keep up. I know they're telling me that just so they can make up lots of rules for me to follow, but the possibility exists that they are right. If they are, it probably means we need more plants. But before I introduce kudzu into my back yard, or mint, I would like to know for sure that these higher temperatures we're seeing aren't just flukes. Here is where things start to get even murkier. Besides the fact that there have been ice ages, and that there were once farms in a good part of Iceland, not much is known about how temperatures on the Earth wobble around just for the Hell of it... certainly not down to the level of tenths of a degree Celsius, which is what we're playing with here. So I'm not inclined to let a bunch of leftists make up a bunch of rules for me to follow just because they say that catastrophe awaits if I don't. They'd say that anyway, and I know it, so to Hell with them.

No takers, I see. I'll answer:

I do not believe in global warming. From what I've read, there are three sets of temperature data: ground temperatures, lower atmospheric data and upper atmospheric data. The first two show warming - but the last does not. The only findings that would be consistent with global warming produced by greenhouse gases (as I understand it) would be an increase in temperature in all three sets of data.

Since the upper atmospheric data has not evidenced temperature increases, I believe the most likely explanation is warming of the ground/lower atmosphere due to an increase in man-made heat traps (or is sinks the right word?). I'm talking about buildings, roads, parking lots etc. absorbing heat and releasing it back into the atmosphere.
