Poohbah posted, Small problem: most of those folks are civil service and are legally protected from politically-motivated reprisal. In practice, this means firing ONE misbehaving employee is almost impossible; a wholesale brooming is never gonna happen without Congressional assent, and Bush won't get it unless he can get a cloture-proof majority in the Senate.

Bingo, these civil servants of which many were hired, promoted and groomed by Clintoons are still in EPA, The FBI, CIA, Forest Service, SOS and other areas.

I have been saying for several months, we need to elect a Republican senate to change this way of life. The Senate could pass a bill requiring all civil service people over GS 7 to submit a letter of resignation to each new president before he is sworn in. He has up to 4 years to accept that resignation letter. So when something like this happens, they can be stopped by security the next day and handed an old orange box with their belongings and not allowed to enter again. Their ids and security passes would be collected and shredded.

Since GW would be a little late re getting this done at his two year mark, the senate could pass the bill with a rider requiring all civil service Rats to submit their letter of resignation effective for two years the minute GW signs the new bill.

Then, there would be massive changes in these departments with the life long card carrying rats still pushing the rat agenda.

Besides the savings to taxpayers would be tremendous.

That would be nice to be able to rid Washington of these folks, but it's important to remember that what ever bills we pass now may be used by a Democrat later as well. (Which is why the patriot act is so horrorfying! Imagine Clinton with that power! And it is now law!)
