If he's smart, he'll stop what he's doing, because we
'consumers' know better than to believe the tripe he's been
dishing out lately.

Then why worry? The free market will determine his fate.

By the way he is smart, and I bet he will have a show
for a longer period than Bush will be president.

Maybe he will, but who'll be listening?

Rush had lots of listeners because he was entertaining and funny, as well as politically savvy.

There's nothing funny about him now, and his falling for the NYT story makes him not so savvy, IMO. We'll see how the free market works, but I wouldn't bet on him unless he stops whining.
