Dr. Laura Considers Presidential Run
NewsMax
Monday, June 3, 2002
Dr. Laura Schlessinger says she may just run for president.
In a NewsMax magazine story cover hitting newsstands this week, America's most popular female talk radio host says she might seriously consider a run for president if Hillary Clinton decides to do so.
"If Hillary ran, I would have to run against her," Dr. Laura told NewsMax magazine in a recent interview now appearing in the June issue.
She described Mrs. Clinton and her husband as being "perverse, disturbed and destructive and immoral."
In the same no-holds-barred, hard-hitting style she displays on her "Dr. Laura Schlessinger Program" now heard on over 400 stations nationwide, with an estimated 15 million listeners each week Dr. Laura said she was worried Mrs. Clinton would be considered a role model for young women.
"That would be horrifying," she said of a Hillary presidential bid.
"Everything I've read about her the book the FBI guy who was in the White House, Gary Aldrich I mean, you read that book and you realize the two of them are perverse, disturbed and destructive. And immoral. And legalities mean nothing to them. This is not a role model. But this is what happens when you have such ferocious bias in the media and only one picture is painted. It's scary. If Hillary runs, I'm going to feel a need to run against her. "
Other points Dr. Laura made in a wide-ranging interview:
On sex education: "In public school systems across the country, they're indoctrinating kids to be 'sexual' under the guise of protecting them, when you know that's not true. I think it is indoctrination for left-wing agendas."
On feminism: "The bulk has been destructive. I'm ashamed of it. And I was in the midst of it in the sixties, but I'm thoroughly ashamed of it. ... It's been very anti-man, anti-marriage, anti-family, anti-child rearing. I think that's been very destructive. All you have to do is look at the last two generations of our children, and that's your answer."
On gutless leaders: "I'm tired of the 'can't win against evil' way. I'm sorry, you cannot. They'll run you over. So that is my one big passion. "Ten Stupid Things People Do to Let Evil Win." That will be my next passion book. I am angry.
On public schools: "I'm sure there are isolated exceptions, but by and large, the public schools are dangerous. In a language arts class in Michigan, they gave a writing assignment. Students were supposed to answer the whole thing. All the parts. In great detail. Questions like 'What do your mother and father argue about? What happens when they argue? Who behaves badly toward you? Would you say your family is dysfunctional?' This was the most insane thing that I had seen. This is a national program ... these things are happening in schools all over the place. It's like Nazi Germany going through the children to separate them from their parents. I find this horrifying.
On her short-lived TV show: "My regret about the whole television show industry is that those venues which espouse the same virtues [as she does] did not have the courage or the energy to stand up with me. That's my regret. The little secret calls from well-known people saying, "We really back you" and "We're so glad you have the guts to do this." All the way up through senators. Christian groups. Jewish groups. Nobody else wanted to get hit by it. So here I was, Gen. McArthur. I had my pipe. I turned around and nobody was there. With a few minor exceptions, like Michael Medved."
OK, bub, YOU FIRST.
Dr. Laura gives her opinion on what she believes is objectively ethical. Dr. Laura has made no claims that she herself is ethically superior. There's a logical difference there that you don't understand or you choose to ignore.
Do you think that Dr. Laura owes you the truth on something that relates to her privacy and something that is none of your business?
What's that about people who can't stand being reminded of immorality or wayward actions? They bash Dr. Laura because it hits wayyyyyyyyy too close to "home".
They may even bash the Klintons for their serpent ways. But.....I think that deep down, way down in their psyches, they admire what the Klintons got away with. They admire that ability to "beat the system". They just don't like having a Dr. Laura point it out to them.
Yes, you are right. The photos were taken in the 1970's. That is not what I am complaining about. I am complaining about the lies she told in the 1980's and 1990's, the lie, the hiding, about her being a moral person, the lie that she said she would never do such a thing, "SIMULTANEOUSLY " while telling others that it is wrong for them to do.
It was not her 1970's act that was "SIMULTANEOUS " , it was her lying and hiding that was "SIMULTANEOUS ".
Ergo, a Hypocrite.
My own pastor came from a life of sin, but he admitted it up front, and said he was changed. No problem.
Laura acted like, spoke like, advised others as, she was always a goody-two-shoes. A lie.
I also did not like the way she handled the scandle. She attempted to cover it up at first, in clintonesque style.
Not exactly a quality to admire in someone that so many seek advice from.
Trust is earned. She did not earn it. She betrayed trust.
It will take more than her saying she was sorry for this story and her photos being leaked out, for me to take her serious.
That is what she was sorry for, she was not sorry for doing what she did. A repentful person admits her wrong, and tells you she is sorry, BEFORE you find out about it yourself.
You can continue to admire her for being sorry that "she was caught in a lie".
No, not every single pecadillo. You must consider the business that Laura was in. It became her business to advise others on the very wrong things that she did. It was her business to tell others not to lie and decieve while at the same time that is what she was doing.
If she was a house painter, whether or not she had an affair was irrelevent.
If she was advising others on nudity and sex, and lying, and adultery, then an honorable person would have been upfront on it. She did not.
What Laura did was much worse that just telling others "to do what she says, not what she does".
If she was/is honestly repentful??, I can forgive her for the nudity, the sex, the adutlery, and the total disregard for the wife of her lover. That is easy.
So Dr. Laura was caught in a lie. Are all lies unethical? Hint -- they are not.
I am honored to be in the presence of Christ. I mean you ARE Christ arent you? You dig for a splinter in others, but missed that beam in your own eye. And you have never sinned or made a single mistake. I bow to you. When will you declare yourself, oh my Lord?
Then you go on about Hillary. According to you its a done deal. waterstraat says we should all just follow each other off a cliff, like Lemmings, because its all over!!
If you arent a left wing socialist I wonder what you are. Maybe youre just a spineless coward who has no balls whatsoever. Have you ever taken a stand? Have you ever done anything but moan, weep and fly your well worn white flag?
People like you disgust me beyond all else. I thank God I am nothing like you.
"War is an ugly thing, but not the ugliest of things. The decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feeling which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. The person who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself." -John Stuart Mill
Dr. Laura is in the business of giving her opinions on what she thinks is objectively ethical. Even if she was leading an objectively unethical life -- I don't think she was -- her unethical activity would be irrelevant to the question of if her opinions on ethical behavior were objectively correct or not.
Dr. Laura is just the taste of medicine that these two clowns would probably choke on.
Thank you very much for saying you are nothing like me. The feeling is mutual. I too thank God I am nothing like you and Laura and the clintons.
I do understand your disgust with honest and moral people, and I am sure you dispise us also.
YOu are free to live as you wish, you and the clintons and Laura can live in your lies and deceit, and try to suck up sympathy from others of being caught in you lies, just leave me out of it.
Maybe.....just, maybe......the antipathy against Dr. Laura has something to do with her Judaism?
Just wonders.
Ya never really know.
Dr. Laura: "If Hillary ran, I would have to run her over"
You may think that personal advise columists, ethics teachers, and spiritualist leaders are "ethical" when they lie and decieve, I dont. My ethics are obviously very different than yours.
I, for one, would not go to an ethics class taught either by Laura or clinton.
Dr. Laura a Jew, waterstraat is Dutch, or is is..... German?
No, it was not her Judaism.
It was her "LACK" of Judaism: the adultery, the lies, the deceit, and the failure to repent are what many find fault with.
Good point, and I agree.
But what Laura just "said" she was against illegal immigration?
Do you really want to put your grandchildrens lives and future on her honesty?
What time were you born yesterday?
